We need a left back a lot more than we need a CB imo. I'm a lot more comfortable with mustafi/holding/chambers as a partner to Sokratis than I am with Montreal/kolasinac at left back. I think one of our three CB options will improve enough to help us get top 4 this year. With LB though Monreal won't be able to go the distance and Kolasinac is a big weak link. We need a left back a lot more than a CB. Then you also have to consider we're getting a highly rated young cb next season in Saliba

We've cleared the following wages already:
Ramsey - £140K
Welbeck - £100K
Cech - £100K
Ospina - £60K

£400K wages freed

We could also potentially shift the following wages
Kos - £90K
Mustafi - £90K
Jenks - £40K
Chambers? - £40K

Additional £260K wages to be freed....

We've added the following wages
Pepe - £90K
Ceballos - £90K?

Potentially adding
Tierney - £70K
Dayot - £90K

That's probably £340K added to the wage bill but a net reduction of £60K to £320K (which is £17M) cleared from the wage bill.

Don't forget about Elneny...

There are talks that Auba and Laca will be offered 250k per week this season.

Hopefully the money comes from the Özil pay when we flog him on deadline day

Özil in his pre-season form is actually pretty useful right now. Feel like he'll make a difference on some days to find the gap.

Not fussed about him staying, we've got other problems to solve and he'll only benefit with a proper setup around him and better wingers that he can feed.

It seems a lifetime ago that we were looking at a 'big' summer of Salibah, Meunier, Carassco/Fraser. That would have been way outside of our 'budget'.

Now people are suggesting that Salibah, Ceballos, Pepe and Martinelli would make a 3 to 5/10 summer. GET OUTTA HERE!

Saliba is not here. Ceballos is top midfielder but on loan without option to buy, Pepe has all to prove and come with huge pressure with his prize tag. Martinelli is non-existent also. I give it between 3-5/10. But with Upamecano and Tierney it goes to 7/10 which is a good window.
