Those stats don't say the whole story. Context matters. We've played 2 youngsters who started for the 2nd time in their career in the PL. We also had David Luiz & Ceballos starting their first game ever in an Arsenal shirt.
It was the first time ever we've played this midfield.
A third of the team that started yesterday didn't play games for us last season.
Some players only had a couple of weeks of training with our team under their belt.

And still, we were in control for most of the game, and their biggest chance, which resulted into a goal, was thanks to a lucky deflection.

You can't compare our first 2 games of the season with the Watford/Everton games where we played almost our best team, which had already a few months of playing together.
And it was a lot lot worse.

It wasn't perfect but still, it was a positive performance. We haven't won our first 2 games in 10 years mate. It's not just down to luck.

I would have been worried if we would have played our best possible team, with fully settled players in the squad.

But didn't you hear Van Persie?

We should compare this to Wenger's teams, City & Pool, Pep & Klopp with their current teams. Because they are also managing their 2nd year in EPL, many newcomers, have important injuries and start four 19-21 year old youngsters.

It's amazing comparison you know. We should be worried, be very very worried.

After watching the match and MOTD, I can't understand how can Burnley have better xG than us according to that tweet, which was posted by @THunter

1.24 vs 1.75, it doesn't add up.

Agree, I haven't seen that Burnley had a higher xG than us.
It doesn"t make sense at all. Pope was a lot more busy than Leno. They only had 2 big chances, one of them was offside, the other one resulted into a goal.
Whereas Pope had to make good saves against the Auba chance, Torreira, Ceballos had a good shot too, Guendouzi, Laca header...

I can see why I left this forum, disagree with the narrative and you apparently want Leno hattricks.

Just like last season when teams like Everton and Watford (and West Ham and Fulham) should have been 2 up at the Emirates, people will excuse the performances and look at the results. Wonder if we’ll see the same **** as last season when our strikers stop scoring at a ridiculous level and it’s 50/50 whether we can beat your Brighton or Palace’s at home.

Double hat-tricks FFS get it right.

Wait are people actually satisfied with the performance yesterday?

No wonder nobody at Arsenal feel the pressure to do better.

Good result. Average performance. We need to keep improving.

Yeah, the youngsters will improve of course, let's hope to world class level. They don't have that many top level games on their backs yet.

Luiz & Ceballos fine games for debut in new team. Pepe is also soon ready to start. We were much better in 2nd half in my view.

Good result, play ok for 2nd game with this situation. Could have scored more. Auba & Pepe 2vs1 didn't even result in a shot. Onwards we go.

Its a results game, I honestly don't give a damn about an average performance when you win the game.

You don't get 3 points for playing pretty passes. And you are made to play in scrappy ways against teams like Burnley, so turning them over is always a good result, in fact a win against anyone in this league is always a good result.

The sense of entitlement is frightening.

Btw. Are you completely sure about your estimation? 2 years in a row in UEL after 20 years of UCL. They don't feel pressure at top level football in transition as a club? What am I reading?

Well I don't care about what you care about but thanks for letting me know. I care about the performances. We need better performances when we face the bigger teams.

If Emery felt some pressure he might want to play more offensive football(which has been the winning formula in the league of late) against Burnley at home.

But guess inviting pressure from set-piece specialist team from minute 20 is the way to go at home these days for us...

Emery has 1 year left in contract and he doesn't feel pressure? I leave this at that. :) I'm sure there is enough pressure for Arsenal & Emery, but no need to argue about it.

Well the football is boring. The fans may be okay with it while we win against **** teams like Burnley and Newcastle but I don't think it will get us far and when the draws and losses starts to creep in the fans will turn their back on him and it will all be for nothing.

About the 1 year thing, he should have been offered 2 years extension by now. Can't be having manager on his last year here. It makes everything harder.

Right back at ya bud.

I remember when we outperformed West Ham by recording 28 shots and lost 1-0 to a Bobby Zamora lob.

I’ve criticized Emery about his defensive style time and time again but yesterday he was screaming at the team to step forward. Burnley had us pinned with their long balls and we had no answer.

Wasn’t a great performance yesterday but we’ve had a lot of upheaval this summer and the first XI is still a way off being settled.

Once the likes of Torreira, Tierney and Pepe have got in the team with minutes under their belt playing together think the performances will skyrocket.

Lot of first teamers still missing atm.

Interesting double standards there since you claimed not to care yet quoted me.

You started by quoting my post which was about that I care about performane by saying you didnt care abouy performance like I really cared for that opinion.

Performances are important to me. You play well and you play good attacking football against smaller teams and its good preparation against bigger teams.

We need to play better than results show if we want to stand a chance against Liverpool next weekend.

In the final seasons of Wenger’s reign I felt nothing but pure unadulterated apathy towards the club.

Not for a moment suggesting we can challenge for the title, top four isn’t even guaranteed, but with a new manager and especially the signings this window I feel completely re-invigorated.

Which I guess is all the suits upstairs wanted really. Not having a dig at Wenger per se, he just hung around too long - he has admitted that since. And yeah, I danced in the streets of north London the night Wiltord tucked that chance away at OT, nothing will ever diminish those memories.
