Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham are hot on the trail of Rennes' teenage wonder-kid Eduardo Camavinga.

The Premier League trio all had scouts at Roazhon Park to watch the 16 year-old midfielder steal the show and inspire Rennes to a shock 2-1 win over French giants Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.

Tottenham were keen to sign Camavinga during his breakthrough campaign last season when he made his first seven senior appearances before being handed three more starts so far this year.

Saw youtube clip of him bossing the midfield against PSG just this morning. Assisted one and almost scored too. If he keeps it up this season, he's going to be one expensive kiddo for anyone who end's up getting him.

If we know for sure Ceballos ain't staying here for good, might not be a bad punt for this kid.

Project fear is it?

Sick of it.

Pipe down Piers.

Honestly though it’s quite interesting, it’s obviously all up in the air atm but we could be left with the scenario where every non British player will need a work permit before joining seen as there’s a growing chance that freedom of movement will be scrapped.

Whilst that wouldn’t be a problem in itself as the home office is seemingly a lot more relaxed than it used to be in issuing work permits, FIFA currently bars the transfer of under 18’s from country to country unless they’re playing in the European Economic area.

If this were to be the case come October 31st the days of pinching the next Bellerin or Fabregas are over.

Academies will be solely filled with British players which in turn will pump up their value even higher.

It would also give European clubs a massive advantage in recruiting youngsters as if there’s a 16 year old who breaks out in say Spain, clubs in the Premier League wouldn’t be able to buy him until he’s 18 while French, Italian, German and Spanish clubs could all compete for him.

How does brexit matter? Isnt it a UEFA thing?

Like you could always but Norwegians under18s but not brazilians (norway isnt in the EU)

I believe it’s subject to those countries own laws so Norway has freedom of movement with the EU established while for the UK that option is looking increasingly likely to be taken off the table.

A highly priced teen midfielder is the very last thing we need. We have Lucas, Guendouzi, Willock, Smith-Rowe and Maitland miles.

Wut?

This is what we need for our future, a massive prospect who not only can give us quality for many years, but if needed to be sold on, can command a massive fee.

Imagine having Willock, Smith-Rowe, Guendouzi, this kid and Ceballos signed up. That's the next ten years sorted in midfield.

Why would this kid leave a starting berth at a Ligue 1 club to sit on our bench? And why would we spend 40m plus on a kid to warm our bench? Seems a really unlikely transfer for us.

Makes sense for City or PSG, who have ageing midfields.

Overrated after one game. I should say that his first performance was impressive given his age. However, he would be last player I might buy for Arsenal ...
