How hard is it to put together something resembling a balanced, coherent midfield ffs.

Extremely hard here since we don't have the players for one. Xhaka and Torreira have similar roles. Willock, Guendouzi, and Ceballos more or less occupy the same role. Our attacking midfielders are either injured, sick, and/or getting robbed on the streets.

After Ceballos's performance against Liverpool, who would trust him to start this game?

Özil at 10 And Emery Out
The positivities are that I don’t have to watch this Arsenal team for a few weeks at least

I'm completely sick of Emery settings us up like crap only for us to have to perform a second half miracle to salvage the game.

Take Xhaka out of equation and we have a balanced coherent midfield!

Don't care about match sharpness or any of that bullshit, you can't bring on a waster like Mkhi over Özil. One pass from Özil could of won the game, while Mkhi is still stumbling around trying to get the ball away from his own feet so he can go back into hiding quickly.

Guendouzi was MOTM. He was good in attack. Did his jod in defending and was on hand to intercept. He also made some good tackles and pressed when appropriate. He kept going for the full 90 minutes too. He's improved his fitness and played at 100%. Right now, he's the first midfielder on the team sheet and we go from there.

They were out on their feet after the 2nd goal. And we dropped off and let them off the hook. Shaking with rage

It’s funny how managers think. When Chelsea were doing well with Conte, Kante was the holding midfielder, cleaning things up and stopping attacks. Then they moved him upfield to press, and they became less stable. I felt we were doing the same with Torreira. His best role is doing what Guen was doing. Winning balls and disrupting attacks.

Feels like we’ve become a team who pick up enough points to challenge for top 4, but don’t have many “great days” along the way. Only great day we really had last season was sp*rs at home. Not enough joy.

Also yeah, coach has been here over a year and there’s still no identity. That is ultimately what will make fans lose patience, when they inevitably do at some point in the next year or two.

2 individual errors cost us today. Leno made an error against Sp**s last season also. Shocking goalkeeping.

He also kept us in it the first half with some fine saves

The defending was horrendous in buildup for the opener starting with Sokratis going for the header

And we all know Xhaka will still be starting next game. Another absolutely horrendous performance. Mustafi level player ffs.
On the other hand, massive game from Guendouzi!
