Nobody should go straight to the line up without earning their place in my opinion. In case you forgot Bellerin had lots of question marks over his defensive abilities pre injury. If Bellerin shows in cup games he is currently offering more than Chambo overall then I'm game. But we need to have a meritocracy.
Bellerin is still a month away fitness wise before he can start a league game. He'll then start a game and if physically looks right, he'll keep his place. He's the recognized 1st choice RB, he's not gonna be dropped or play second fiddle to Chambers the same way Xhaka doesn't play second fiddle to any midfielder.

Really excellent today. Reminds me of Ivanovic. I was in favour of selling him in the summer but he's really impressed me. His reading of the game is exceptional. He also supplies some additional height in set pieces which means there is literally no excuse for Unai to not drop Xhaka for Torreira/ Willock.

I actually rate him so much, he’s not had an easy time of it at all here.

Lots of injuries, playing in random positions and on the periphery. I’ll never forget him and Holding thrown under the bus and forced to start in that season opener against Pool a few years back.

He’s been through a lot of adversity here and has kept grafting and improving. I’d be buzzing if he could become a consistent starter here, lad has really done himself proud.

He was fantastic today, not sure if he'll ever be a 1st name on the team sheet kind of guy, but it's nice to have him play 3 positions comfortably.

Hope we keep him at RB. Can't see Bellerin coming straight in atm.

Was great today, really looks like he is trying to force his way into the 1st team, think the loan last season done him a world of good

Chambers is our most consistent defender and shouldn't be dropped for others.

Either move him to the center back when Bellerin is fully fit or put him in dm role. He has contributed a whole lot this season.

Man of the match today.

With what Calum has shown at RB recently he really should get a shot at CDM when Bellerin is back to take the RB spot. Right now he's moved away from the bubble when it comes to potential exits within the next couple of transfer windows.

Chambers has been awesome every time he has played, in fact Chambers has been our best player this season except for Auba, if you take Auba out of it then Chambers is the best player by far

Should be given a chance to continue this form even if Bellerin comes back fit. He deserves to stay in this position for the time being.

Should remain att RB when bellerin is fit. Not sure bellerin will do better, he wasnt as Good before this injury as People remember. Might light a fire in him to develop more.

We shouldn't be rushing Hector back anyway. We're a 5th of the way through the season. We need to be careful how we bring back players from long layoffs if we want to compete on as many fronts as possible. We're very lucky Calum has stepped up because we can now afford to ease Hector back in.

Top post.

He's clearly a confidence player & will continue to thrive when trust is placed in him to perform well.

You always need your critics but his detractors (who only surfaced on the bank of that Swansea debacle which made the entire team look bad) have always been out of porportion to his performances, most of which have come from him deputizing for the missing starter.

I'm absolutely chuffed he's come out of this tougher & more determined to make an Arsenal player of himself.

My sole worry with Chambers is whether we’re going to be able to find a position in the side for him long-term.

He’s such a good all-round player that he can be utilised all over the pitch, but he’s going to want to specialise in a single position at some point. Think he’s too talented to spend his career as a backup.

Can’t see him supplanting Bellerin at RB (don’t @ me @Mitch ) and Xhaka has that DM starting position nailed down as captain. CB probably represents his best chance but, even if he could rise above Sokratis in the standings, that still leaves him fighting Holding and (next season) Saliba for that slot alongside Luiz. Both of whom look like a more natural fit in that position, if less versatile elsewhere.

You're wrong, no?

Being able to cover 3 positions makes you somehow regular starter as someone will always be injured and in need of a rest.
Mitch is actually right about Bellerin, people quickly forgot how bad he was at times over the last few seasons.

His attitude is top class. After all the doubts & criticisms he's faced he has come out & played like a champ wherever he's put on.
I want him to play DM, he was Fulham's player of the year & I'm sure he'll be way better than that pisstake with the armband

His lack of Speed shows imo, against bigger sides it will show even more...

Im not against him playing CDM thou!

It Will free Xhaka to play LCM
