I agree 100%. I think it's too late to simply demote him now. If he'd apologised straight away and attempted to acknowledge his disrespectful behaviour, perhaps but it's gone on too long. I honestly don't think he can play for us again.

I know players are people regardless of what they earn and have feelings too. I get that Xhaka has been through a lot of criticism and just lost it, but there are lines you don't cross. In any customer facing job, like his, even if customers are being absolute jerks, you can't react like he did, without losing your job.

A football club means more to fans than to most players, unless they are fans too. He is paid to play for Arsenal, supporters pay to watch Arsenal. We have a right to express how we feel, even if it's hard to take for the player.

Then you hear reports of him refusing to apologise. At this point it will mean nothing if he does. I think they get paid what they are paid because they are in the public eye, danger money almost, and football is so emotive, you should expect people to be upset when performances aren't great.
I was thinking about that this morning. Players 50 years ago also got abused but they weren't paid much. I think Wenger once said that he insisted on the players knowing how privileged they are to be in the positions they are in... We've clearly lost more than good fotball with Wenger gone. No class left in this club now.

If Xhaka ever plays for us again his first match back should be an away game, Vittoria would be ideal because I believe domestic teams are going to boo him ironically.

@Mo Britain when last did Xhaka actually score a banger from outside the box. Please remind me, I honestly can't remember. People talk about this ability as if it is a regular occurrence, meanwhile in reality it seldom ever happens,.

Liverpool home game in Wengers final season? There's the United goal last season but wasn't top corner

This.

It's not the first time a player has been subjected to such treatment, nor will it be the last.

The most important thing is how one responds to it.

Take Ramsey for example who fans really got into when he was returning from a leg break no less. Not once did he act like a petulant child. He let his performances on the pitch do the talking for him and eventually his naysayers were forced to eat humble pie when he scored the goal which ended our trophy drought.

That's how you respond to the critics, not by stooping to their level.

It's hardly the point of my post. But come to that how many bangers outside the box has our entire team scored this season?

For what it's worth, enjoy these.

The goalkeeper in that one against Liverpool is so bad.

4. He takes the armband off and flippantly tosses it to the ground instead of handing it to Auba. Both disrespectful, tantrum-like and wastes even more time.

8. He takes his shirt off storms down the tunnel and throws his shirt to the ground.

All of this could have been avoided if Xhaka (our ****ing captain, mind you) ignored the initial, limited jeers, jogged off, handed the armband to Auba and went down the tunnel. Aka. What he was supposed to do.

I want him gone. Sell his ass to Red Star Belgrade for a dozen pljeskavica for all I care.

4. From the videos it wasn't clear if he threw it on ground. It looked like he threw it on Auba's direction and he couldn't catch it. Maybe fans who were in stadium saw it better.

8. Again it is not clearly seen he throws the shirt on ground. I've looked at it several times, it looks like he hands it to someone near the tunnel, but it is not clearly visible.

It is interesting you want him sold to Red Star Belgrade. They're not angels either :)

I just loved how in that Xhaka video 3 of the shots are from set plays, 2 take massive deflections and then the others are brilliant. But takes away from the whole argument...

He can certainly score a long range goal, he's got a quality strike, don't think that's ever been in doubt - The thing people don't seem to take into account is how often he does it.

Since he's been here he's averaging 4 goals a season (from what I can see) and not all of them have been from range.

Arsenal fans or Chelsea fans, it’s disgraceful behavior. People who behave like this should be ostracized.
It’s clearly not all Arsenal fans.Is the twitter guy a gooner or another jealous ‘fan’ from Timbuktu trying to crucify our home support?

He's not what I would call a long range specialist though because it doesn't really happen that often. Tiny conversion rate as well..

I used to love that combo. Used to smash lures out and get blasted. You knew it was time to go home when we started taking photos of Pike with a spliff hanging out it’s mouth

Might try this.
