Fans need to be patient. Pointless getting on his back after defeats. He should have a free pass to be honest. We place a lot of emphasis on the manager, but the players are shocking. In England you need two way footballers. Our squad is okay for Italy, not England.

Players who lack agility and/or speed:

Kolasinac, Chambers, Sokratis, Luiz, Holding, Guendouzi, Torreira, Lacazette, Xhaka, Özil, Elneny.

There are some players you can hide, for example one central defender and a central midfielder, but that list contains 9 regular starters. That simply isn't good enough. We have talented young players, but they are not ready yet.

Arteta needs backing in January. He needs a box to box athletic midfielder and he needs a centreback with pace.

Arteta looks like he could be a bit of a mean **** to some of our softies.

The poster who said we had people there until 1am because Arteta is rejecting us has got me rattled though.

The fans are going to turn on Arteta, make no mistake about that.

We need to hold firm over the next three years or so, I think our pressure needs to be directed at the board as they are the ones who can seriously derail a proper rebuilding of this club on the pitch. Its as soon as the next transfer window where we need to be making noise.

If fans turn or if Arteta stay however long should be the same criteria as for any other manager. A combination of results, tactical development and how he's utilizing the squad at his hands. Of course patience is needed, but look what indecisiveness and "patience" got Arsenal into with Emery, when he really should've been fired at the end of last season.

I don't think you can go into a project and just state "he will need so and so many years". You got to continuously evaluate what's happening in terms of results, set out goals, tactical development and squad development/utilization. E.g. if the club and fans - and I think in the case of Arteta becoming manager and the club very likely not getting and international fooball next season - goals and league finish expectatiosn should be lowered as a proper rebuild will be at hands: Leaving senior players, a rookie manager, very many young players, probably not too many top players joining.

So e.g. if there's a clear plan at hand, a clear tactical handwriting which is developing, the squad is used in proper fashion, but then there's a string of bad results - that's when you want patience in such a situation. If these things don't happen you'd best pull the trigger even when results are still kind of alright. And if on top of that results are bad, you pull the trigger no matter if a manager has been at the club 1 months, 6 months or 2 years.

So we are getting the man we wanted after Wenger left and still waited a few weeks after Emery's sacking to get back to him.

Still think he lacks managerial experience and we wouldn't look at him had he been a Chelsea captain who became Pep's assistant.

But if the likes of Ten Hag won't come we need to take some risks. Can't get much worse than our current state.
