We never had the mentality to win the league and all our players end up injured anyway. Arsenal fans always act like we’re 1 or 2
Players away from success but that’s just simplifyling it. We were always prone to a collpase and guys like Özil & Santi never score and Ramsey is average tbh he was too injury prone to rely on.
It usually is 1 or 2 players though.

Liverpool were a joke until they signed VVD and Salah and became CL finalists. They then signed Fabinho and Allison to become CL and (most likely) PL winners.

If the club want to distance themselves it would have been enough just to say that Özil's comments are his own personal ones, that he has a right to voice them and left it with that.
The Kroenke's have made exactly that statement with their public hand. It's what's in their private hand that Özil needs to worry about.

So true. The calibre of purchases to make that squad, were top drawer.

Imagine that same transfer management team getting an ageing Luiz from Chelsea.

I think ozils quality is not in question. He is a high quality player. The problem is whether he is the right fit for this club. We do not have the players of ozils technical quality and as a result we struggle to control games, which in turn necessitates the need for more work rate. But we have a team where 3 players do not work hard defensively enough. Also they are Auba and Özil are not physical enough. All of this ensure we will not win any 50-50 high up the pitch. The rest of the team is not good enough to support this.

As hinted at by Ljungberg, this partly explains Özil's diminished influence. He is a possession player who finds himself in a team that no longer keeps possession as they once did. Özil now lacks the speed to produce his best in a counter-attacking team. Like many who face City, he is likely to have looked at them on Sunday and felt that he was on the wrong side.
So that can be translated to this: a 35K p/w play-maker that would require an overhaul that would cost 200M to back to his previous level with any remote chances.

I have no problems with Özil voicing his opinions. But he is a footballer on exorbitant wages and he should concentrate more on his football performance. He now does not have international duty but yet he has become a baggage to the team and the club. If he wants to do good things for fellow Muslim, he can donate a big big chunk of his money to 50 related charity and children suffered from wars. Being a semi-human right activist behind keyboard/iphone and associated himself with a controversial domestic political figure does not make him a whiter knight.

It is a precedence like this make me feel the club should place salary cap on players’ contract negotiation. If players in focus can’t help the team get into CL, they should not expect to get CL level of wages. Rewarding them with ludicrous wages for under-performing would augment their egos to throw things on the net.

I actually feel sorry for all those fans who have fiercely defended him online and chanted his name at games. Our fans are toxic and turn on players at the drop of s hatbut he's had nothing but great support and he does not deserve it

You'd think he'd want to pay back their support, but he just casually struts around like he'd rather be anywhere in the world but on a football pitch. Has anyone ever looked as depressed as Özil does whilst playing football?

Don’t think he wants to play anymore. It’s all for leeching more money out of the club.

His body language and attitude has been dreadful for god knows how long now. Not sure why anyone would support him, Or think he is a good player, but to everyone their own.
