Torreira's goal at Liverpool away, the only goal scored by midfielders this season.

We've become far too reliant on Auba/Laca goals. Arteta will change this :)

And where was the attacking Arsenal that we love? We are staring at deficit for goal difference ffs. Hope the turn around starts today..

People so quick to call him lazy though. Think I know why but I won’t say.

What about all the games he missed when he wasn't injured? Might not be laziness but somethings not right, think it might actually be his inability to focus properly (tracking back)

Tierney, Kola, Holding, Martinelli injured. Chambers suspended. Pepe carrying a knock.

Not much choice here for the chosen one. Chance for Nelson though.

Guendouzi and Willock will have to fight for their places.

If you divide the pitch into 5 sections.
One in the middle, two half space, and two flanks.

Arteta wants his central midfielder always position himself in the middle area. And in rare occasions he is allowed to be in the half space. But he should never leave his assigned position to defend or make passes at the flanks.

It does not mean that players can’t make movement at all. But before they reach the final third, they have to move within a specific assigned area, relative to where the ball, and where their opponent and their teammates are.

Arteta require his central midfielder to be intelligent and tactically discipline to be within their zone (he would probably divide the pitch into more sections to train and instruct his player), to provide passing options and cover the defence in transition. This absolute discipline in positioning and movement is what Arteta wants.

Henry on Guardiola‘s training:

“Basically from training to the game, up until the last third, he [Guardiola] used to call it the ‘three Ps’ - play, possession and position. And the most important one was position. You have to stay in your position, trust your team-mates and allow the ball to come to you.

Willock and Guendouzi are almost always in the wrong position. They like to roam around and Arteta would never allow that freedom.

Players Arteta wouldn’t wants are box to box with no tactical discipline, moving freely vertically and horizontally on the pitch, leaving space and gap for the opponent to exploit. Also, no one occupying their original assigned space also means we have less passing options when we want to build possession.

Martinelli not being fully fit and if Pepe still isn't fully over his knee problem then Arteta wasn't even left with much choices anyways. Couldn't play Saka wide as he was needed at LB. Lacazette had to therefore play which forces Auba wide while Nelson is our only remaining wide option to make up the front three.

Don’t understand why some here would prefer someone with so little tactical discipline, moving vertically and horizontally on the pitch, leaving space and gap for the opponent. Also, no one occupying his original assigned space also means we have less passing options when we want to build possession. Seems some of fans here like players to run all over the pitch without playing with their brain. And they prefer long ball rather than beautiful and patient buildup.

No one will read this mate, AM is for non-serious football posts these days.

Surprised at the lineup but then again not a hell of alot of choice. Nelson really needs to start delivering on his early promise soon. Could be a good opportunity for him

Weird guy, slagged off Wenger, starting this Bumteta thing, but sucked off bumnai even when he was losing.

It appears to me that coolest fans around here are those who abuse the Arsenal head coach the most.

Perfectly logical stuff, so proud to be part of such fan base. Long may it continue! It's Christmas too!
