Goal and assist. Looked at it from the first whistle. Not just his dribbling but the amount of chances he created.

Lagged a lot before he came off and his off the ball work must still improve, but you look at that performance and ask why he didn't start the last game (and I'm a huge Nelson fan but still). I'd have still kept him on for a bit longer tbh, especially as Nelson himself looked extremely leggy when he came on.

Maybe - just maybe - people will slow down on the writing him off? Too much to ask?

Nothing Wrong With Me
I was only saying a few days ago that Pepe isn't cutting in early like he did before he joined. Its clear Arteta has spoken to him about that because today, not just for the goal, he cut in much earlier. His shot against the post was also due to cutting in earlier. Now he needs to get his fitness up so he can play like that for 90mins.

Just needs to work on his end product and his fitness. He absolutely terrorised Luke Shaw tonight, they were two or three men up on him at one stage.

It's not surprising that Pépé put on an excellent performance with good end product tonight. What's surprising is that so many people have been so quick to write-off a player who displays his talent so clearly even when he's not particularly on form.

So much more to come but first fitness.

Being tired affects everything from your first touch to your off the ball movement. Both of those things (and everything inbetween) started to lag a bit in the second half so I’m happy with him getting subbed.

Feel like he shows he’s starting material whenever we do start him though, hopefully this is the beginning of an extended run in the team.

You're wrong, no?

Cut the crap, there wasn't a single post about his ability as a player. People were right to complain and ask questions when your highest transfer sits on the bench for no reason.
From day one it was clear he is a baller, but managers were still more willing to change formation or do crazy setups just to avoid playing him.
If this show today wasn't enough for him being a default starter for rest of the season, then something is very wrong with this club or player

Your reading comprehension is failing you.

The point is that his ability is such that it warranted caution against writing him off and labelling him a waste of money so early, despite the developments.
