Offer them a swap with Özil and maybe we can push the price down to 40 m even. #aheadofthecurve
Know you’re just trolling but wanted to add something. I love Mesut and his renewed pressing work, but if you want someone who can do that naturally its got to be Ziyech. He’s Ajax best player, most gifted yet he works harder than anyone. Would be a perfect player to come after Özil, and why can’t we have two of them? He can also play on the wing.
Hmm, a bad paper from Italy reporting about a guy from the Eredevisie is hardly credible. But here you go !
Yes Tadic and Blind have been amazing signings, Tadic this season has not been playing well but still puts up the numbers as a false 9. Suffering now with both Promes and Neres injured, both are back in training so should be a good second half of the season. Ziyech has been the engine of this team though, without him Ajax go down like 50% in performances. He creates overloads by beating people, pushes teams back with his threat from outside the box, cuts through the lines with his through balls and switches play in 2 seconds with his pin point crossfield balls.Obviously joking. Tadic is putting similar numbers though.
Would love to sign him. Would just be a bit weird having him or Pepe on the left, when both clearly favour playing on the right.
I think Lemar is trash for the premier league, way too lightweight and unproven other than that one season with an amazing Monaco. We could come out of this window not spending much and being in such a good position.
If you take 15m from Roma for Mikky, sell Mustafi for around the same price and then grab Lemar on loan with option to buy plus a very good CB for 50-60M you're only spending 20-30m net which is doable for us.
We have so many options in midfield and going forward but Lemar would add another solid option for next to nothing.
Holding, Luiz, Mustafi and Sokratis left in terms of fit CB's. So you would replace Mustafi with someone good basically.
Saliba in the summer and we are cooking but we need CL football to push to the next level.
Leno
Bellerin/AMN
Saliba/Sokratis/Holding
New CB/Luiz
Tierney/Kolasinac
Torreira/Guendouzi
Xhaka/Willock
Pepe/Nelson
Özil/Ceballos
Lemar/Martinelli
Auba/Laca
You then go into the summer with the mindset of getting another midfielder and maybe selling lacazette or auba depending on contract situations.
But in general our defence is sorted for a very long time if we make the right move this window.
Ziyech is still much more raw than Özil, the step up from having 5 seconds on the ball before being pressured compared to the 1 second you get in the premier league is still a big one. But I have no doubt Ziyech can make it work, he’s been outstanding at CL level. He’s now back playing at #10 and doing so well.He is like a Özil but without his flaws and weaknesses, skills and dribbling. More like a Modric or Iniesta.
Agree, he stuck around a long time. But he’s not going to be expensive.Ziyech is 27 in 2 months, so it’s now or never for a move I think. Past 28 you’re not considered a great investment unless you’re cheap.
We’re back in businessTheses are full on Wenger-esque targets. Even some of the same names.
More like Pep.Arteta and Wenger are from the same spiritual school.
Doesn’t mean he’ll match Wenger or have even have any success at all, but the principles will always align.
Way more like Pep in terms of his approach to the game.More like Pep.
Way more like Pep in terms of his approach to the game.
But hopefully with more of Wenger’s personality. Couldn’t really ask for a better mix.
You’re right. Arteta and Pep have similar tactical approach to game. Which they will need similar training methods and recruit similar players to make this tactics work to its best. What Wenger brought was a change in culture, values, management style and football philosophy.
FREE flowing attacking football was a beautiful philosophy that gives a LOOSE tactical guideline to the players, allowing tactical FREEDOM. The players are being trusted to make the decision on the pitch.
I respect Wenger’s values a lot and that’s why I support this club. What he achieved was massive, and much more than just the results on the football pitch.
But as football evolves, we need a much more DETAILED approach on football tactics. Modern football is about giving players pre-instructed information on every movement and decision on the pitch in different situations. Everything is STRUCTURED and well planned. Players don’t need that half a second to make decision on the pitch, the decision is already made, they just have to follow. They don’t have to locate where their teammates are, because in their head, they already know where their teammates are.
Modern tactics also deviates from having a rigid concept of formation to field occupation (which space a player should occupy or be positioned on the pitch).
Transitional play is also more emphasised in the design/construction of a tactic (When you are attacking, be ready of how you are going to defend in case you loose the ball. And when you are defending, think of how you can attack).
What Pep brought to the football world was his revolutionary tactics. Every details in his tactics is so well calculated. His positional play was mind blowing in the tactical world. How he tell his player to create space and exploit them step by step is fascinating. And he is a genius on making subtle tactical changes within a match to create numerical advantage.
Too expensive at 80Mish you would think.Disappointed at the lack of links to Zaha.
Crappy stats again, even if he’s playing for palace you want more than 3 goals 2 assists in the first half of the season. That, + his age and pricetag makes me believe we dodged a bullit.Disappointed at the lack of links to Zaha.
30 goals and assists for Palace for the two seasons prior to this. Very impressive stats.Crappy stats again, even if he’s playing for palace you want more than 3 goals 2 assists in the first half of the season. That, + his age and pricetag makes me believe we dodged a bullit.
