No goals and 1 assist in last 16 games and his last shot on target was against Norwich in December. As much you like Özil but for Arsenal that need to go forward Özil need to be sold in summer and try to get better player similar can be said to Lacazette
Seems to be a favourite under Miki, but surely he sees this as well?

Mate, if you take him out of the team, we are even worse. Prove me wrong.

I am concerned you will just move your attention to any other easy scapegoat and forget the bigger issue. Rinse and repeat.

Emery and OG held the whole club back, not just Özil, unless of course your shole support revolves around hating Özil.
Why is it that anytime Özil is criticized, his loyal group of supporters will call you a hater.

So Özil is immune from criticism?

we lost 18 months to that duffer emery and his pet gandoozi .. and these laser-eyed forum pundits were rah-rah-ing all over the place. We lost 18 months of Özil and a lot of our senior good players just walked out any way they could. Yet these same pundits here, who have a laser like focus on Özil, were rah-rah-ing all over the place. It does seem they have a special hate for him.

Watch the most recent match. In the first 15 minutes we could have been out of sight. Martinelli had to tap in a goal. Pepe was in acres of space inside the box after a lovely Özil dummy.

We played 433 against 3-5-2 and the midfield was swamped at times, but we threaded the ball through...but couldnt finish.

Now the cry goes up through the land...why doesnt Özil track back, why doesnt he help out in building play, why doesnt he progress the ball, why doesnt he shoot more, why doesnt he assist more. All valid points, but if you saw the match and thats all you can pinpoint, then you are not really watching football.

His contract had run down. So the club paid him 350k or whatever. Why dont the rah-rah-ers mention this? He isnt paid 350k as wages, it included the re-signing amount. Somehow this escapes their laser eyes.

Özil didnt do much....with mustafi, luiz in CB, ( imagine that) Saka AMN at FB, (world beating club standards eh) Xhaka Torreira at CM (super high quality midfield eh) , Martinelli, Pepe, Laca ( rookie, rookie and outofform) uptop...... Özil isnt at his best and is struggling...but the attitude of the rah-rah-ing all over the place pundits is sickening...on how they focus onto him and feast. shame.

Thinking maybe he should drop back a bit and we play a midfield 3. This number 10 thing just isnt wprking out at the moment.

We need to upgrade on him but not the worst of our problems.

The problem is we need to upgrade 80 percent of the team.

And we can't upgrade our team when we have a bloated overpaid squad. We need to cut the fat in our squad, starting with the highest paid player who is not the best performer.

No. Starting with the weakest link. Arsenal are paying Mesut 350k and could still afford Pepe.

Even though Özil isn't performing as he was a few years ago, he is still the only one with enough technical capacity to play between the lines. Imagine selling him and playing Ceballos or even worse, someone like Willock there. We'd be even more awful to watch then with Özil.

So now Özil is gettong Arteta to defend him to the max aswell, how does he do it??
According to Evening Standard Arteta defends Özil and says he has bad luck thats why his stats are low

Hang on, I thought he'd put all his doubters to shame? I thought he had proven us all to be clowns and would bury us all repeatedly every week under Arteta, because he ran 11km a couple of times? So he's back to just being in crap form again, then?

Also....
this is why Wenger gave Özil the big new contract. He had to carry the torch, keep the flame alive, though the troll infested badlands of mordor... and now hands it over to the chosen one - Arteta.

They tried to humiliate him, ostracize him, mock him, harm him, attack him, exile him, break him and destroy his reputation and professional image. He saw them off. The jury is out. The genius still stands on the centre circle, in the green grass of the emirates. This is his home, and here he made a stand and at times stood alone against the storm.

Arteta has come, Özil is now a man unburdened and the results are there on the pitch. No one is talking rot about him being dropped for being ill, for not training well, for not being tactically suitable or for not being good enough. Its a shame that some gooners descended to those levels.

Its a simple game people. Genius will out. Its right there on the field, how can you spin that.

peace and harmony has returned to the land.

victory through harmony.

hold the values close people. be eternally vigilant.

That aged well

The sad thing is I, and the other godless ****bags who criticise Mesut, was genuinely happy--why wouldn't I be? I want Arteta to work immediately and our best players need to play well for that to happen and for us to reach a respectable position in the league. But the **** storm created in here by his supporters after two high energy efforts ffs... smh. It's difficult trying to remain classy in here. Thing is, if that's the game they want to play, who stands the best chance of 'winning'? Özil aint keeping that up
