Lol wait for him to have a string of poor games before calling him ****, ffs. He was one of our best performers for a stretch and the haterz were strangely absent from his thread.

Must have been a tough period 4 u guyz
Exactly. When he's shi te, call him out for playing shi te. When he plays well, praise him for playing well.

If he wasn't doing reasonably well Arteta wouldn't be playing him. You cannot be both Arteta's female dog and a Xhaka-hater at the moment.

If you do there's only one explanation and Billy Fury got it down to a "J".

He hasn't been that good tbf, since Arteta took over the only very good game he had in midfield was in the win over United (was quality against Chelsea as an emergency centre back though)

He just isn't performing to a level anymore, where fans boo him off the pitch, that's it...and this shouldn't be the level a starter centre mid for Arsenal peaks at

He is a good player for a slower league, but we need to hopefully get better in the summer.

The only player where I just don’t understand how people can defend him. Even when he's “good” he’s not actually that good, better than average at most. He’s been here 3+years and the guy hasn’t had one excellent game. I challenge anyone to tell me when he had a 9/10 performance.

I laugh when people say he’d be good in Italy or wherever because the pace of the game is slower, he’s not a top level player. Belongs in the A league or somewhere like that. Gash player that can’t even do the basics. Hate that he plays for us. Fraud.

I don't think Arteta rates him either. He understands that we have poverty options in midfield. Xhaka has very limited skillset and so many weaknesses. Arteta is just asking him to play a simple role that doesn't expose him much. He will be the first one to be dumped once we get a proper midfielder.
I’m pretty sure he does rate him. Arteta has admitted that he wanted him at city and begged him to stay put last transfer window despite there being a good amount of CMs AM think is better than him in the squad.
He’ll probably stay unless he himself wants out in the summer imo

Lol. Imagine Arteta on his knees begging Granit ‘house keys’ Xhaka to stay. Sickening.

I so hope you are totally off base with that post. God have mercy on us if you are correct in your thinking! :(

I don’t know how he has fans, maybe it’s because he’s good looking? **** knows.

How can Arsenal fans go from Vieira, Petit, Gilberto, Cesc and even ****ing Cazorla and Wilshere to this guy...

Rather play Smith from the u23s.

They probably never saw these guys play

Arteta begging Xhaka
Show me one player Arteta talked bad about, in the press. He says the same things about all the players.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?
We'll see in the summer but if he keeps Xhaka and Özil at the club he will keep all the negativity around the club because of them. There has to be a point where we can get rid of the worst midfield we've had over the last 20 years.

Add Özil to that mix and we have one of the worst midfield in PL.

It's absolutely shocking that we didn't manage to fix this problem for the last 3-4 years, and I'm fairly sure both Özil and Xhaka will play with us next season.

I genuinely believe this to be true, and not even an exaggeration. As far as balance goes, our midfield is probably bottom 5 in the league

The problem i have with Xhaka and i'm really not trying to be disrespectful to him but... I think he hides in games, like a coward.

Good players take charge and force things to happen, he doesn't do any of that. He's always passing the buck to another player and his sideways passing have become cringeworthy jokes. He doesn't dribble past anyone and he certainly hasn't taken a decent shot at goal lately.

He needs to start taking charge of games and taking responsibility. Then again she's pretty **** at tackling or marking so i am not too bothered if he never plays.

It is ridiculous when you look at what he's doing. When there is a player close to him he would just stay passive and put all the responsibilities on his partners even though he is our deep playmaker. If someone would pass to him he would give the ball straight back or lose it.
Top players will collect the ball under pressure, keep it, turn with the ball and play forward pass after that. Fake captain will never have that ability.
That's basically the number one problem in our team, lack of that extra quality on the ball that big players have and average players don't have it

You could legit retype this word for the word in Özil thread and it would be spot on aswell. It really is no wonder why we’ve slid down the table for years with these jokers hiding in the most important area of the pitch. Both need to go and go ASAP. Legit hate them both.

Hate to break it to you guys , like him or don't like him .. he's not getting sold, more likely the other 3 are more replaceable in the coaching staff minds . He fit's a profile in midfield , a specialist in the deep lying role , the other three we can easily find better. We have no one that fit's the role of a dynamic , athletic mid/ball carrier . Unfortunately Jeff was told by Unai he wasn't necessary

We have Willock who fits the athletic/ball carrier mould but for some reason Arteta thinks he’s a 10 when he’s clearly a 8

Now that all the sympathy has gone from the booing episode, I hope we all realise just how crap Xhaka is. How many times have we seen this? Xhaka is in poor form and mistakes, the manager shifts the system to suit him, he plays well for about 2 months, then teams figure us out and Xhaka is crap again. A player that important to our setup should not be so easily sussed out. When will we move on from this donkey? To me, Xhaka embodies the anti-Arsenal. Slow, sluggishness, one-faced, boring etc. Xhaka was even close to joining Stoke at one point, if that doesn’t show you just how un-Arsenal this guy is, nothing will. He’s the perfect Mourinho player trying to play Carpet football, it never works out in the end.

With the inclusion of Mari to our setup who will basically cover Saka and provide the long passes that into the final third, is there any point of Granit Xhaka in our starting line up? With Mari’s inclusion, it forces Xhaka further up the pitch, where we all know that’s where his weaknesses lie. Xhaka is only adequate when he has the whole pitch in front of him. Arteta made him look better than he is because he had a limited of space to operate, now Mari has taken that zone, who should we replace Xhaka with to be more effective further up the pitch? My proposal would be Willock, Guendouzi or a wildcard option Matt Smith. I think with Cellabos operating on the right, pair him with the athleticism of Willock who can also provide some tools in the final third if pushed up. Failing that, Guendouzi can definitely handle the game further up the pitch, maybe not in the final third but he is capable of those line breaking passes to the fullback or Aubameyang. Matt Smith is a good prospect and yes I’m aware he’s inexperienced but watching Gilmour ball out for Chelsea replacing their own Xhaka in Jorginho, you can’t help but think the problem could be solved internally. I. think Smith could be that guy, he’s consistent at the u23 levels, a good engine and mover of the ball and I think he’s better than Burton was, who some believed would be picked out by Arteta. Honestly, I’m clutching at straws here but I don’t think I’ll love this club as much as I should do until Xhaka goes.

When I think of really good passes from midfield, I don’t think of any by Xhaka. They’re all from Luiz. Ceb has also stepped it up recently and, as you say, although Mari is in the very early stages of bedding in, he’s showing a keen eye and the confidence to stride out and ping a few. It’s getting a bit embarrassing for Xhaka. Oh but he shouts a lot, points at stuff and apparently shows passion... I remember a time when that was a pisstake reserved for ‘clueless’ English midfielders...
