Lacazette is our big game player...relative to his level anyway.

He was terrible. Simply has to tuck that chance away that Bellerín set up. The one on his left leg was unlucky. Good technique on that volley he had but I felt at the time he could’ve taken a touch.

I <3 Aubameyang to death but he’s missed big chances in big games for us. This kind of stuff can’t just be brushed under the carpet.

Yeah, like Man U away and Sp**s at home. He's always been a striker who misses chances, but has equally been an elite scorer for 5 years. Henry's goalscoring record was pish in big away games, and even Ian Wright's was only ok.

Auba is such a frustrating player because for all the quality in front of goal he has, his buildup game is non-existent - and as nobody else compensates for that in the team, we suffer a lot. And when he isn't scoring, he is basically doing nothing of note.

Shouldn't keep him. Sell him and buy a striker who's more suited to Arteta's style. Absolutely no point persisting with someone who's mostly a passenger on the left. When he misses chances like today you've essentially got nothing out of him for 90 minutes.

Get a hold of yourself. He was poor today but is the only player in our team that Liverpool/City would entertain and Arteta’s using him wrong.

I keep banging on about the fact that he’s a poor wideman. His game isn’t built on taking players on and delivering a final ball, it’s built on making runs off the shoulder of the last defender and finishing. Saka should’ve started on the left.

The fact that our midfield is so poor at progressive passing is the reason Arteta feels the need to play a striker who drops deep to get the ball and bring others into play.

Fix the root issue! It’s midfield. Play 433. Put Auba up front and play Saka/Pepe either side.

This is on Arteta.

He obviously missed a few chances today but he's the only consistent source of goals we have. Sterling was complaining last night about chances City had missed against Soton and that is a team that's scored 90+ goals this season! Imagine how many chances/goals Auba would be getting at a team like that. We badly need some more creativity in midfield, can count on 1 hand the amount of chances per game we create at the minute.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?
We badly need some more creativity in midfield, can count on 1 hand the amount of chances per game we create at the minute.
He is part of that problem because most teams would have players on the wing who can create chances or contribute to attack just by controlling the ball better. We've swapped that for a guy who can score but he can't create or pass the ball around, so overall, our team will create fewer chances just by playing him on the wing, making other players scoring less than they usually would.
It's a chicken and the egg thing really

He fluffed his lines today but he's carried us and played out of position all season. He's barely missed a game. He must be fatigued.

People are harsh sometimes he didn't miss a sitter or a tap in he hit the bar and If Lloris didn't make great save it would have been a finish henry would be proud of.
He'll be disappointed not converting the second half chances, especially the one where he hit the bar. The half-volley was a great effort, matched by a great save from Lloris so it's hard to fault him for that, but I do feel he should have scored in the first half when he completely fluffed his lines off the Bellerin cross.

Can't be too hard on him though, he's our only star player and been our main goal threat who's consistently performed throughout his tenure with us.

Fans don't want to admit it, but Xavi is spot on in why Auba would never play for a big club like Barca: "Mané and Aubemayang can kill you in open space. But Barcelona need players who know how to move in small spaces." Fans want to pretend that Auba is some Henry/RVP level striker, just get the ball to him and he will score. But the truth is Auba doesn't possess enough quality and ability to rise above flat track bully level. This is why we need to start moving away from him and seriously consider selling him this summer, but then far too many people will not accept that.

Barca footy wouldn't work in the PL anyway.

What a load of horseshit.

This is why Barca get blown away by more organised assertive teams in major away games unless Messi shows up to save them.

Mané and Aubameyang would score **** loads in that Barca team, as both have done against the likes of Bayern, Real and Barca themselves.

It’s a lazy analysis of the two to focus on their speed. They get into goal scoring positions as often as they do because of their intelligent movement off the ball in the box and spatial awareness. It’s not an accident.

Do they miss inexplicably easy chances? Of course. But so do guys like Salah, Aguero and Suarez. The ignorance and generalisation of that statement by Xavi (Mané and Auba are nothing alike) is a subconsciously limited perception of Afrocentric players as braun over brains.

If you think I’m wrong look historically at the use of platitudes like ‘flat track bully’ and analysts comparing Ballon d’Or winners to Henry/Drogba/Eto’o during their peak years.

The only bit I would agree with you on is that Mane and Aubameyang are nothing alike. One is world class and could comfortably play for any team on the planet. The other is a good player in the right team, nothing more, nothing less.

Auba is overrated, pure and simple

Great player, but as soon as he hit the bar towards the end of the game we were dead in the water. It was a superb opportunity missed and sp*rs knew it was gonna be their day

World class striker.
Flat track bully isn’t the worst thing in the world, there is more fodder in the league than genuine quality.
