Skriniar is available. Would be shocked if we dont go for him. Being offered to Sp**s for Ndombelly but we can now match what Sp**s have on the table in terms of European football. However there's isnt even guaranteed yet which is a bonus.

This is why winning the FA cup was so important. When a player like Skriniar becomes available and gets offered to Sp**s you need to be in. Wouldnt even give it two thoughts if we didn't have european football.

Hes the best left sided CB who is actually on the market. £50M would do it as well.

Skriniar - £50M
Partey - £45M
Aouar/Grealish - £45M - £60M

A £150M summer, we did it last year so why not. Admittedly this would be our best ever window so I'm expecting a poor signing in there somewhere. But don't let dreams be dreams. All players mentioned are attainable.

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
Auba new contract 350k a week.
Koulibaly 70m
Ceballos loan to buy 30m
Partey 45m
Zaha or Coutinho 40m plus add ons

185m between now and next summer

Kolasinac 10m
Holding 15m
Sokraits 5m
Mustafi 5m
El Nenny 5m
Torreria 25m
Guendouzi 30m
Özil free
Lacazette 30m

125m

With the young players we have, we wouldn't need to bring much in for 24 months.

If Arteta really wants to play Aubameyang wide then we should maybe go for Depay or Jovic.

Am I the only one who doesn’t want us to sell one of Laca or Auba?

Our front 3 is actually one thing that’s working well. It’s not perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better than we’ve had in many years. Seems like everyone wants change just for the sake of change.

If it’s not broken don’t fix it etc.... So I’d rather we just focus on CB, CM and AM where we are broken.

Thoughts?

Arsenal spending 50 mill on a center back? No way. I don’t think he’d cost that much of we wanted him Anyway. But can Skriniar even pass? Probably wouldn’t fit Arteta’a game plan.

I also notice people putting way too much reliance on our youngsters turning out to be world class players that can carry our team in a year or two.
I’ve been following club football long enough to know it won’t work out that way.
Out of the bunch we have high hopes for, we’ll be lucky if one of them ends up to be top class.

Didn't they offer 58m for Upamecano last summer? Saka has already had a top class season.

I keep changing my mind as we've progressed under Arteta. My preferences (with alternates in no particular order) at this stage are:
  1. Skriniar (Romagnoli, Ake)
  2. Neves (Bentancur, Partey, Tonali, Camavinga)
  3. Puig (Szoboszlai, Aouar, Grealish)

I rate our front 3 individually, but dont think it works largely due to Laca' lack of pace and intensity and inability to work openings on his own. Good player, but I think we need a pacier and more skillful option upfront.

I feel like that’s kind of picking at straws. A #9 doesn’t necessarily needs those traits IMO. Plus a #9 like that would cost 100 million.

I think Laca just needs more creative players behind him so that we can take full advantage of his amazing movement and runs.
He’s also a great combination player which allows others around him to score more.

In short, I think we can get a lot more value by keeping him and using him properly than what he would sell for.
If we sell him, we’ll probably end up strikerless and toothless again like we were for half of the last decade.

Will just warn this is a lengthy post, but here's my wishful summary of the summer transfer business -

In terms of outgoings, we have a few valuable assets such as Guendouzi, AMN, Holding & Balogun, all of which you'd think we will see the back of this summer.

Add to that the sale of Sokratis & there's a potential for inflow of £60-70m if we are being modest with the transfer fees.

I think Mustafi & Chambers survive another year & Özil sees out his contract (being frozen out the squad most of the year).

When considering incomings, the consensus among the fan base is that it is totally unreasonable to assume we will have a sizeable budget this summer.

However, when you consider that we can potentially generate £60-70m from player sales & will receive additional funds from the FA cup win/EL qualification, it should not seem too far fetched.

Add to that the fact that United & Chelsea etc will be spending £100m+ & Arteta has openly pleaded to fans to trust him when he says he will be backed, it seems as though we will be spending fairly big this summer.

Also important to note that we actually 'spent' nearly £150 million last summer when disregarding payment structures.

With all that in mind, the four players I'd target are Grealish, Partey, Diego Carlos & Ceballos (on loan again with option to buy).

We currently have more than enough firepower in attack with Auba (I think he will sign), Laca, Eddie, Martinelli, Pepe, Saka, Nelson etc so no change needed there.

Partey will complement Xhaka & Ceballos' games and will bring control & solidarity to the midfield which I think allows you to revert to a back four and have the three of them in the centre screening the defence but getting forward on occasion.

With the highly rated Saliba coming in, we should aim to get a more experienced defender with a good age and profile like Diego Carlos to bring a bit more steel to the centre of the back line. I think Saliba & Carlos together completely transforms our defence along with Tierney who is pure class & a recently rejuvenated Bellerin. Martinez is a wall in the net and should be our no.1.

Grealish is perfect for our LW slot as it allows you to push Auba through the middle from the start but also have the flexibility to move Auba back out to the left in game as an inside forward along with Pepe on the right & bring Grealish infield into CAM/False 9. Grealish also offers the option of having him in a midfield three and going with a Auba-Laca-Pepe front there three as we do now.

On paper:
Martinez
Bellerin-Saliba-Carlos-Tierney
Ceballos-Partey-Xhaka
Pepe-Auba-Grealish

I believe that side (if settled & drilled from the start) gets you top 4 next season & provides a solid foundation to build on over the next few windows.

The last few games have taught us that it's not always about having the biggest names, it's about having a spirited and organised side that has a clear defined plan from their manager, which we now have.

Exciting times to be an Arsenal fan again & in Arteta we trust.

Sounds good to me. Although I don't want us to go into the next season with a midfield where both Ceballos and Xhaka are starting. Way too little creativity, poor mobility and often too slow in the transition (not spotting the pass or too slow in the execution. I'd rather sell Xhaka and put Saka in there for offensive output.

I'm also on the fence about Grealish, but mostly because he seems to block significant game time for Saka, who is currently our most promising asset. I'd be inclined to get Benrahma instead because he's less high profile and we could more easily rotate them. Or focus on a truly special creative CM (Aouar, Ødegaard) and put Saka LW starter.

There's actually really good swap potential in our squad to get Grealish in an Arsenal shirt.

Partey links have cooled down but maybe a deal is on the cards, a decent alternative could be Milinkovic Savic, could cost a bit more but doable.

Marquee center back signing, like the idea of Ruben Dias, because of he's age, other names have been thrown about too, like Carlos.

I still think Arsenal could do with another winger, like the idea of Everton Soares, seems to have pedigree.

Also a younger striker to bed in, somebody like Jovic.

Also, Mikel Oyarzabal could be a shot in the dark.

I hear your points and I agree Xhaka & Ceballos wouldn't of even been in consideration six weeks ago. I just think that they've struck up a great partnership together and we need to maximise the output out of the pair as long as we can.

Equally you can move Grealish into the middle into a three and put Saka at LW for certain games. It's a long season and everyone will get their fair share of games as we've seen this season.

Benrahma looks quality but I think Grealish just edges it for me due to the Prem experience & the fact he's displayed he can stand up and be counted as a leader in his team.

Also think Brentford will demand a big fee for Benrahma if they go up which makes the move less attractive.

I'd love an Ødegaard/Aouar but I don't think we are in the market for that type of player. If we get Partey or a specialist DM, I think it will be a hybrid LW who can play infield like a Grealish or Benrahma; evident as Arteta has said he's targeting a left sided player iirc.

Not for this season but my god I hope we are looking at Frimpong. Another outstanding game from the young Dutch man.

Class. Edouard hattie as well. Let's hope KT taps Edouard up and he brings Frimpong with him.

I like Ajer also. Would be good to strike up a good relationship with Celtic, always a few unearthed quality talents in their ranks & you can generally get SPL players at a good price.

Ajer has went off the boil. this time last year I was high up on his potential but he seems to have gone over confident which is a worry. AC Milan apparently looking at him and I don't think we should get involved. there are certain things you need to watch for. Ability being one the other being even though you know you can stroll through a game you do so without fault. Ajer has this tendency only developed in the last 12 months to jump in sometimes it works other times it takes him out of the game. I dare say it happens due to over confidence and at a higher level could be removed but he shouldnt be doing it. He should read the game better and not rely on team mates bailing him out when it goes against him.

Frimpong looks a real talent. 19 year old Man Citt academy product. They are producing fantastic players. This time next year it Bellerin is still questionable we should move for him.

Edouard, nothing needs said.

Yeah, I would definitely be happy with Grealish, just a little conflicted because I hope we find plenty of gametime for Saka to develop. I wonder what type of fee he would command and I would only get him if our issues at CB and CM are solved first.

Benrahma might indeed be too expensive if Brentford go up.

With regards to the Xhaka & Ceballos partnership. It has been very good for us defensively but in possession I think it really offers us too little. Our side completely lacks creativity. I haven't seen a more boring Arsenal with so few nice team goals before this season for a long time. It is why I would not get Ceballos for €20m this season unless we sell Xhaka. Our road back to the top (four) should see us transition back to creative and beautiful football that Arsenal is known and loved for. That means a midfield three where all players are sound technically and we have at least one creative player able to spot the pass. That's why we musn't keep both.
