Arteta managed to make Mustafi look decent, which even Wenger couldn't manage. So I do have hope. But signing Pepe for that price was not shrewd business. I like the player, but his consistency is severely lacking.

Martinelli is an amazing talent, so I can't argue with that.

Luiz may be frustrating but on his day he is still unplayable and it was a necessary signing.

Saliba will need time to adapt, so I will hold out on an opinion for now.

Tierney is great, albeit with a concerning recent injury history.

Mari and Soares were necessary depth. And the former looks decent.

But all together, we were left with glaring and unforgivable weaknesses. Losing Rambo, not getting a CAM to replace Özil whilst he turns pro on Fortnite earning £350k a week. A dominant CM would have been nice but we assumed Torreira would kick on but his size and lack of pace worked against him.

Reeling from Laca & Kos nightmares
That was a terrible window, we never bought in the players we needed. Tierney was injured pretty much all season and only played cos of the Covid delay, Pepe is disappointing and not worth the 72, Luiz and Ceballos are the type of signings we shouldn't be doing.

All in all it was a disappointing window and that's why we finished 8th. People tryna put a positive spin on it are just delusional, but that's what you expect from some Arsenal fans.

I voted yes. Oh what's this|? My arm is moving? I'm not a dummy then, unless I'm a showroom dummy.

We ended up with a stronger squad at the end of the summer than at the beginning. That, by definition, makes it good business.

Did we make the best of the squad we had? No, but that is another question. The squad underperformed, which is why Emery went, and that's why we ended up 8th. You can say what you will but there weren't seven better squads than Arsenal on Day One. Arguably only two or three, although possibly 4/5 better first XIs.

The window wasn't great, but when a season ends like this...

Arsenal-win-FA.jpg

...with Luiz, Tierney, Ceballos and Pepe all playing well, then I think the business we did wasn't too bad...but I am just an optimist ;)

Hoping we build on this, it's was a potentially very good transfer window.

I’m terms of recruitment it was a decent window, you can’t bring player performance into this or injuries.

Perhaps the Pepe money could’ve been better spent on a CM. But it’s easy to say that now we’ve seen Martinelli and Saka. Last summer it was pretty much agreed we needed a wide forward.

Bit like 2015/16 when other teams had problems, but one team rampant. We came 2nd instead of coming 8th, but our entitled fans decided that was disgusting though and took Wenger out.LMAO.

How their tune has changed. Top 4 is now the ambition of most of our fans when once it was all a big yawn.
Lol Wenger the loser specialist in failure who lost to Leicester City!

Yep, specialist in failure who got top 4 for 20 years straight on a shoe string, finished one below Leicester.

Still now you've got rid of him, how are you enjoying being mid-table and 3 below Leicester lol.

Fans were unhappy because all Arsenal signed in the summer was Double Agent Cech, and see that summer as the opportune moment for Arsenal to have shown ambition and potentially be crowned champions.

The reality being that they ballsed it up like all the other 'Big Six' and enabled Leicester ****ing City to become champions. Stop mentioning Wenger, dude, because your argumentation lacks substance.
You really believe that fairytale. And what position should we have bought in? A midfielder to go with Ramsey, Santi, Arteta, Özil, Ox, Coq, Flamini. You'd be creaming your pants if we had that midfield quality now.

More Bum Squad hindsight drivel.

Great transfer window, it shows we have a detailed plan on how to operate on the market. We mostly bought players for the future (Saliba, Tierney, Martinelli) who all turned out to be great bargains. We added a marquee signing who is starting to get to grips with PL and added one experienced international.

The blueprint is evident and hopefully we'll continie with it this transfer season.

Why so serieuse?
Transfer window was fine. Pepe is still finding his feet and Twirney was injured for most of the time. We'll see the fruits of last summer this season imo.

Enjoying it because I don't have to see the French frog manage us. No more European managers, proper lad who got brought up in English football like Arteta.

For this window, I’ll obviously be miles off but I’ll go seven. It’s going to live and die in how we remember it based off Pepe I feel.

He’s looked promising so far though, but he’s going to have to be an Alexis level player at least for all the money we paid.

I think the other signings are smart, when we got priced out on Upamecano I’m glad we at least got someone in and even if he’s awful the David Luiz deal is cheap and a short contract.

I’m glad we didn’t buy a back up goalie as I think Emi deserves a shot and for me is arguably the best keeper in our squad. I’m also glad we’ve kept Calum around as that hopefully means no Mustafi ever again.

Also the club’s done really well in moving players on, I didn’t expect Jenko, Elneny and Mkhi to all be turfed out so that’s a major positive.

Where the window loses a lot of points for me though is the squad we’re left with. I was ok with selling Iwobi if we brought in a replacement but not only have we not done that we’ve also moved on Mkhitaryan.

A lot of people rave about Nelson and Saka and I’m sure they’re great talents but from what I’ve seen, right now Iwobi is twice the player. With Özil pretty much washed as a player we’re now really thin for options.

Up front is a problem when combined with the lack of wing options because if either Lacazette or PEA get any injuries we can’t even call on Nketiah anymore so we’re going to be starting Martinelli.

Also while what I’ve seen and heard of Tierney is very encouraging his injury record is a bit worrying, so I’m struggling to understand the Monreal move. If he’s not back soon after the break we’re looking at a stretch of games with Kolasinac as our only fit LB. Also think the Bielik sale is another potential Gnabry.

All in all it’s been a good window but I think we’ve still got an unbalanced squad and might have to buy a winger or bench striker in January.

This is what I said last summer and pretty much stand by almost all of it. Obviously wrong on Iwobi and Saka but that was mainly because I didn’t see Saka excelling as much as he has done when played.

Also Bielik hasn’t done much at Derby mainly due to injuries so jury’s out on that take.

Otherwise I felt at the time it was clear that we’d struggle creatively when Iwobi, Mkhi and Ramsey all left. Not because they’re great players but more that we had no one who could carry the ball or create and unsurprisingly that’s where we’ve struggled the most.

He's Spanish you racist ****.

At least back then we tried to build an English core with integrity, instead using a money launderer to offload his 'has beens' for back handers. Enjoy the mediocrity bro.

A strange window really. Great on paper but I feel we'll need next season to judge it. A lot of question marks still up in the air.

If it was one step back for two forward than it was great. (Eg. if those same players make their mark and lead us to glory).

Otherwise it set us even more backwards.

He's a product of the Barcelona youth system, as Spanish as any bull fighter. He was 23 before he joined Everton, an actual man. You been drinking bro?

These Spaniards are so slippery. First Bellerin, now Arteta. At least he hasn't come out against the will of the people, Brexit, and our PM

When you're struggling, you don't buy for two years time unless you're prepared to lose the manager and drop out of Europe altogether and all the revenues that entails. It's only Arteta who's saved Raul and Edu this year.

Even so they're still hell bent on destruction even now. Mari, Cedric, Luiz, Willian will get us absolutely nowhere.
