Nicolas Pepe: The Nutmeg Express!

What would you do with Pepe?

  • Keep him for the foreseeable future

  • Give him one more season to prove himself

  • Sell if you can get a significant fee, keep otherwise

  • Sell at any price

2)He doesn't make quality runs at or behind defenders to utilize his pace, instead always wanting the ball at his feet at a standstill.
3) His work rate off the ball is mediocre at best.
2 is simply not true. 3 hasn’t been the case for a while.

It’s one thing not being a fan of an inconsistent player that’s fair enough but when people ignore what’s in front of them to just make up criticisms for a player???

To each their own. If you think Pepe is consistently making quality runs into space that threaten opposing defenders, I profoundly disagree. I also disagree that he's quality away from the ball. He's been a bit better since his red, but he's had plenty of games where he was just out for a jog.

Watch the games, watch some previous games back if you have the time.

Our midfield is probably the safest in the league in terms of passing. We rarely try to find anyone in behind. Auba is one of the best off the ball movers in the league and he gets ignored constantly.

I've watched almost every game this year in every competition aside from a couple in late October/early November.

Auba is dropping off but still making some decent runs. Pepe? Not so much. Again, Saka in the basically same position instantly pops with the difference in play and the runs he's making.

Even in games against farmers in the EL, Pepe still plays the same way. He just had more time and space against League 1-level opposition so taking the ball at his feet and cutting inside on his left foot worked better.

Actually feel sorry for the guy now.

Looks totally and utterly lost on the pitch.

Why some of u eager for Nico 2 fail? He needs an extended run of games as a starter, not coming on in the final 20 minutes against teams playing with 9 defenders.
