 That’s always been your problem looking at snippets. What I showed you is the big long term picture, in fact 24 years worth. It’s as clear as the nose on your face that money buys success.

If you don't know what to buy then it's a waste of money, it's about spend wisely. Look at Pepe & Saliba, have they been good investment? You spent 100m on them which can give you Van de Beek & Bruno together and those two will fix Arsenal's midfield problem on paper.

Look at Pochettino. The season when he spent the most money is the season when he was sacked.

And also coaching is important. No point signing players if you didn't coach them properly to utilise their strength and hide their weakness like Lampard. Instead of coaching Werner to make run behind defenders, he was coached to hugging the touchline like winger thus why Chelsea only plays sideways. Similar to what Arteta is doing to Aubameyang right now.

Look at the Chelsea finishes I showed and you can see money brings success. What you're looking at are the small ups and downs within that trend, better/worse coaching abilities, better/worse transfer dealings etc.. But the overall trend stares you in the face.

Chelsea & City have rich owners, they can spend whatever they like. Their case is different to Liverpool, United & Arsenal.

Our money coming from the club not the owner. And that means you need to spend wisely not doing Chelsea or City. Look at Liverpool under Klopp for prime example, you spent wisely on the right players, coach them to bring the best out of them and it brings you success. You spent money on Benteke, Carroll, Sakho, and etc it won't bring you success.

Same applies. Liverpool have been spending 3rd/4th for years. Coaching and buying well and they've finished higher than 3rd/4th, coaching and buying badly and they've finish below 3rd/4th. But they're never a mile away. They've only won the league once and finished 8th twice, their outliers. But their average has been around 3/4th. In the long term money determines your rough position in the league and the things you mention gives you the smaller variations.

It's a bit odd putting Arsenal in the same ballpark of finances as Liverpool or United, the latter clubs are in a different league of spending overall, even if you include Pepe. Yes, there's no rich owner but there's still a massive difference in spending over the last 2 decades. They were signing Fabregas and Van Persie for less than 2 million each, seasons we were breaking records to sign Rooney and Ferdinand.

They were miles away, they were 7th, 6th, 8th and 7th for four years in a row in 2009-2013. They were big spender in those years spent on Sakho, Johnson, Aquilani, Carroll, Downing, Allen and etc. They got 2nd in 2013/2014 and then went back to 6th and 8th the next two following seasons. Money alone clearly didn’t bring Liverpool success in those 7 seasons.

You're looking short term up and down spikes again instead of the long term. Add up all their finishes since the Prem started their average finish is 4.5 and they've spent around 4th most of that time. End of story.

If Rooney kept himself in better physical conditions he'd have been contesting with Ronaldo and Messi, not only that but he wouldn't have dropped off as much as he did still in his mid to late 20's. It's a weird one because he achieved so much yet you still feel that there was more he could've done.

The success what Klopp achieved is irrelevant to how much money they spent during Houllier, Benitez and the era between Benitez & Klopp.

If we are going back to 10 years ago let's say 2012, you can't use this as your logic because from 2002 to 2012 Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham & Liverpool were the top 4 net spender, and yet United & Arsenal were the ones that constantly finished in top 4 in those 10 years, in your logic United & Arsenal shouldn't be in top 4 most of the time from 2002 to 2012.
