Marca and AS saying that we're in for Álvaro Arbeloa. Express noting that it's as a Vermaelen replacement. The Metro are claiming he'd be a Jenkinson replacement.

Either way, it doesn't make sense to me. But judge for yourselves.

What the ****, Arbeloa?

Wenger needs to put his xbox pad down and stop spamming RB ffs.

If Chambers was brought in as a CB more than a RB, this makes at least some sense.

Absolute knee-jerk in here. You're not going to bring in a world beater as a 3rd choice RB/LB.

He'd be behind Gibbs, Monreal, Chambers and Debouchy for the FB spots. If he accepts a small role, his experience could prove valuable to the younger players around the club.

It's more a matter of whether we need a 3rd choice RB/LB at all and why we would pay as much as we would need to pay for that when there are likely a few youth players who could contribute just as much.

He's also 31. There is ZERO sense in doing this.

It's like suggesting we play Monreal at CB. It's sheer **** and should not be suggested under the most jocular of circumstances.

Refer to NOPE gif above.

Think he would be good, don't quite understand the immediate dislike. He played in a European Championship final two years ago. A bit past it but a good squad option.

No. A signing that makes no sense. I would rather give whichever backup spot it is to a young player with potential.

It doesn't really matter if he's played in a European Championship final to me anyway, as there are players who have played in big finals who are still rubbish and not good enough.

Also it's weird you say he's a bit past but still a good squad option. If he's past it he shouldn't be anywhere near the Arsenal squad or team. It will just lead to us once again littering our squad with average players as in the recent past.
