Álvaro Morata

Arsenal are being kept updated on the availability of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The 21-year-old striker, who is also a target for Tottenham, may be allowed to leave on loan in January.

And Arsenal, who are also watching Schalke’s talented 18-year-old midfielder Max Meyer, are interested in the Spain Under-21 international as they look to bolster their forward options in the new year.

Morata has scored twice in 11 appearances this season but manager Carlo Ancelotti is only prepared to let him go if Madrid can sign a new striker.
Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski are the sort of calibre player that Madrid are looking for and the former wanted to join them in the summer.

According to rumours in the Spanish capital, if Madrid can sign a new striker then the door will be open for Morata's loan move.

The Gunners are short on options up front, while Sp**s are desperate to boost a strikeforce in which the lead man is Roberto Soldado, who has not performed well after signing for £26million this summer.

Morata was on target for Madrid on Saturday when they beat Almeria 5-0, with Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Isco and Karim Benzema also on the scoresheet for Ancelotti's side.

I certainly wouldn't mind him. Good young player. Great technique, movement and a very good workrate. If we don't go for a very good senior player, someone capable of immediately challenging Giroud for the starting spot, he would certainly be among my top picks.

Surely better than Bendtner. I don't think we'll splash the cash for a striker in January when you have to pay over the odds even for a rotation player. A loan deal ,with option to buy, for Morata would be a decent solution. Not ideal but decent

Morata should be ahead of Benzema for me in the RM XI, if we can get him on loan or a permanent deal then it would be a great deal for us

Talented player, don't think Real would want to sell him or even loan him unless theybrought in another striker first.

I love Morata's movement. He was outstanding at the U21 World Cup. He's got good technique and is quite the natural finisher, he's also good with his head too, has a great leap.

Not the best video but it demonstrates his intelligence in the box and his leap, I'm a big fan of his, he should get more minutes at Madrid.

I do think Real would sell for the right price, but like others have said they'd either need to sign a striker or at least have one in the pipeline to replace him.

They're already going to get rid of Benzema, aren't they? Can they get rid of both so quickly?

I remember watching him in the U21 world cup and he stood out IMO. He was absolutely brilliant. I haven`t really seen him in any other level but only based on U21 performances, I would love to see him sign for us.

From my understanding he is pretty popular among the fans as well, a bit of a golden boy since he's a home grown player and they're keen on another Raul. Don't think selling him would be very popular but then again Perez does whatever the **** he wants as proven by events this summer.

Spanish radio station says he's agreed to join us on loan. No idea how reliable.

More sources.

I honestly like this one. More than Pato anyway.

If we do get him I hope it has an option of a permanent deal. I'd hate to see him fire us to the league title only to be taken back by Real.

That being said if you want quality short term cover for Giroud this deal makes a whole lot of sense.

But I'm selfish... So let's keep him.

I will love to get Morata on loan for 6 months and then buy a WC striker after the world cup.
Morata is exactly what we need.
