Go on now the only midfielder better than Fabregas for us in the PL era was Vieira. Partey ain’t getting anywhere near him and I rate Partey.
That was in an era before the PL had lots of proper creative midfielders. Nowadays he’d just be one of many, people don’t realise the game has moved on.

That 07/08 team is nothing special in 22/23 people need to take their nostalgia glasses off. Acting like they’d beat City give me a break lmao.

Top fit peak 07/08 Arsenal easily beats this City team, peak 22/23 City washes the April version of 07/08 Arsenal.
They’d get absolutely played off the park by City. Would look worse than the Barca games from back then.

The only critique would be that Cesc and Zinchenko are a bit too lightweight to both be in the team, especially in today's league. One of them needs to be replaced, and that's Zinny for me. Play Tomi in his position and we have a good balance there I'd say.

Have Walcott, Martinelli, Jesus and Nketiah on the bench, to serve as late game substitutes to stretch tired defences.

You’re definitely right there, but Zinny is a textbook Wenger type of player. Think he even tried to sign him back in the day. Imagine the technical level on that left hand side with Zinny/Cesc/Hleb all pinging the ball to each other…

The 10/11 team that wasn't even as good as good as the 07-08 team, went toe to toe with Barça and almost came out tops if not for one of the worst referee performance in history.

That 07-08 team would murder some so called European elite.

Infact I'm not sure this team is as good as the 14/15 team if Caz, Özil, Alexis, etc

The outcome of that match would completely depend on what standard of refereeing you used.

There were no Barca games in 07/08. This City side struggled vs Everton Brentford etc not like they're invincible, both at peak form would be close imo

And that team back then got bullied by sh*t teams themselves. I dunno why that’s relevant. City would absolutely dominate that team both physically and technically.

Arsenal fans have such a loser mentality that we’re still reminiscing about some soft players that came 3rd like 15 years ago, at least the Özil/Giroud generation won some trophies. This club is finished it’s sad to see.

07/08 were losers, they would be a Europa level team in 2023. Nostalgia bias is nuts because the game has moved on since then the way they played is nothing special now.

What **** teams bullied them?

It's not reminiscing it's a simple question of who you rate more. Cut the loser mentality soft etc stuff out this is no Andrew Tate forum.

I find this topic fascinating.

The 07/08 first 11 was electric to watch. The trouble was keeping them all fit.

That MF of Cesc, Hleb, Rosicky, & Flamini was ridiculous. Honestly people forget how fluent & efficient it was. I would take it over our current one.

People also forget Adebayor was an absolute beast that season. Scored 30 from 48 & 24 in the league. The defence was solid if unspectacular. Not a huge amount of difference, bar Gallas' tantrum, which probably destabilised us.

People bang on about Eduardo, but he only scored 4 league goals for us that season. Yeah he was in form when he got injured, but it's too simplistic too say the title detailed because of him being out. I think the mental impact it had on the squad was bigger.

Ramsdale is clearly the better keeper. I still can't understand how Wenger rated Almunia so highly.

Different eras. In those days we used to play with total freedom and expression. Reality is those teams would get trounced by modern day rigid and disciplined tactics.

Man Utd are 3rd this season? Diabolical side with Shaw playing CB, Weghorst, Antony etc. Sp**s were 4th for most of the season with Conte, how bad were they? Newcastle have finished in the the top 4 and they are very ordinary, very average side. There is nothing superior happening here. Villa are top 7, after a horrendous start.

@BigPoppaPump crying lazily about “nostalgia” non stop like a parrot while adding nothing else tells you all you need to know.

Man Utd have spent millions.

How bad were Sp**s? 8th position bad.

Newcastle finished 4th and they’re ordinary but so were Liverpool and Everton that finished 4th & 5th that season.

Villa are top 7 because they switched managers and he turned them around, they went on a mad run.

Cmon context matters.

This thread really shows how small Arsenal have become, reminiscing about an above average team that came 3rd 15 years ago smh.

I mean your post alone shows nostalgia bias, you bring up those Man Utd players but don’t mentions guys like Almunia, Eboue, Clichy etc.

That Arsenal team had like 3 or 4 good players just the rest of the league were still in the stone ages.

Nah. Not only does this City team possess far more individual quality man for man. But Guardiola also is a much better manager and tactician than Wenger was.

You really trying to argue that a team and manager who regularly got outthought and outfought by clever sides and always struggled to control games would get the better of arguably the most dominant team coached by a guy obsessed with and mastered extreme control of games?

Chelsea were getting 90 points back then playing park the bus football and you want me to believe that era was better lmao I swear most teams were still playing 4-4-2 back then as well lmao.

When you really think about it, this whole thread is nonsense. I would say I can't believe @GDeep™ tricked Arsenalmania but 95% of this forum are simpletons who can't think for themselves.
