Not surprised
07/08 concede less goals too. Went up against peak Chelsea and Utd, Liverpool were winning European Cups at the time too. Actually, all 3 of the above were European Cup finalists and winners.

Spin it however you want, City were the only team who turned up last season, rest of the league was dross.

07/08 probably win the league last year.

2007/2008 (along with the 2001/2002 season too) are probably the best the Prem has ever been, in terms of competitiveness/quality throughout the whole league.

That side definitely does deserve it's credit.

The 2001/02 side are kinda left aside due to the massive achievement by Invincibles. But I think that 2001/02 team played the best Wengerball ever. Won the title against a formidable United side that had won 3 titles on the bounce and had quality across their side.

Remember how we used to smash teams up in first 25 minutes by scoring a couple and then we would cruise to a win.

Yeah 01-02 scored in every single game too, which is seriously impressive in its own right.

Whereas the 2007/08 team was still in the race in April. It only lost pace when it narrowly lost to both Chelsea and United away. The United away game was particularly dodgy as the referee bias was so obvious it was beyond belief. Lehman had saved a penalty only for the ref to call for it to be retaken. And then I remember the foul from which Hargreaves scored the winner was never a foul.
We were 1-0 up at Chelsea and Sagna went down injured, so we kicked the ball out. In the throw in, John Terry told one of their players to throw it deep into our half and we ended up losing the ball and conceding. Not a ref mistake necessarily but poor sportsmanship.

The Chelsea and Utd games away were so close and we ended up losing both.

Hold on against Birmingham and Hargreaves doesn’t hit that worldy free kick and you’re looking at us winning the league.

Margins were so tight.

Another thing that happened at Chelsea was Sagna scoring then turning his ankle badly and having to go off. We had to move Eboue to RB from the wing and the whole defensive set up collapsed.

Song played CB at Old Trafford as well irrc. So annoying we were down to the bare bones there.

Im probably in the minority here, but for me 2001-02 is Wenger's best Arsenal side, and our best PL side.

07/08 would walk this year’s CL as well imo. The CL is so much worse than it was back then, it’s actually sad to think about.

Fabregas, Hleb, Rosicky, Van Persie, some of the finest technicians..... Vs Ødegaard, Havertz and Nelly.

Even last season Xhaka can't chat to dem

RVP was injured a lot that season but yh, they way ahead of 22/23 or this seasons team. But neither won anything, so can't be considered the Emirates best imo

1 -14/15
2 - 13/14
3 - 07/08
4 - 15/16
5 - 09/10

This is the top five in order

Champions League was done when Sp**s got to the final in.2019, tbh...you don't come back from that, that's a mark that will never be recovered from.

Like having Austin back in the day, but Vince going "Crash Holly is main eventing Wrestle Mania lads "

I love the 02-side as well, but I think that the invincibles edge them out just a little. More points, no losses obviously, but also with the add-ons of Gilberto and Reyes as a super sub.

Edu also had a great season in 04. Still very raw in 02.

We didn't win anything, but the 98/99 team were something else. That second half of the season was best I've seen of us tbh

Even just thinking about it from around that era. You had the big four of England all capable of reaching semis/the final. AC Milan and Inter both won the CL in 07 and 10 respectively. You had Barcelona won it under Raijkaard and then obviously dominated with Pep. Real underachievers in this era but still a top side. Bayern a real dangerous side too. That's 9 top teams all around at the same time. You could even throw in a Lyon, Roma, Valencia who'd probably be capable of going a long way in the modern era too.

The Villarreal teams under Riquelme in 2006, then Pires and Cazorla in 2008 too... amazing.

Football just had so many exciting teams back then.
