We’re right demanding a minimum of £30M for Ramsdale. I’m not his biggest fan, but he’s young, English and he’s the modern keeper - playing with his feet, nowhere near Raya, Ederson or Alisson level, but he’s still decent.
I can see us getting offered the £30m for him.
Speaking of Alisson and Ederson, rumour is the Saudi league wants both this summer, very unlikely it happens, but if they do go it’ll start a huge merry go round of keepers.

We don't know the price he ends up being sold for. One year left and it would be 10 million max?

Yeah and we would have saved £5m in extra wages so it’s evens really.

You’re right though it’s hypothetical, we don’t know how much he goes for. I will be livid if it’s £15m though. I think it’ll be £20m minimum.

Pep, Klopp, Erik and Poch had players worth several hundred million pounds warming the bench this season but Ramsdale's worth dropping 10-20m while upgrading on him is what triggers people.

Arteta isn't an accountant. I don't want hin worrying about nonsensical stuff like this. If Edu or others strongly felt that this would be a bad move then they could've easily blocked the move.
Wouldn't be the first time, Arteta wanted other players before too and we didn't get them.

His contract would have apparently ended in 2025 without the extension. He would now have 1 year left in contract and all the cards, and Arsenal would get less money.

So all these people absolutely fuming it was a terrible decision & EDU was a 🤡 to extend Just may well have been t chatting total Cr@p

Let's be honest with 1 year left we would have likely had teams offering us £8-£10 mill.

We saw what happened with Leno who is a decent keeper & went for peanuts.👍

Yes, but people never seem to understand the value of having cover players, especially in a title charge.

Raya didn't get injured, but if he did like Pope, Alisson and Ederson for example, Arsenal would have had almost similar level backup goalie. These are the things the club considers also.

It's easy to say it was useless in hindsight, but the club can't plan/rely on luck.

This isn't happening between us and Newcastle at a price either finds acceptable.

He'll move elsewhere if he's off.

Because Arteta wants to win titles and it's very small margins vs. City.

Raya was a loan, and a cheap GK in current markets because of his contract situation. Arsenal had two great GK's this season in case one gets injured.
Spending huge and not selling well puts huge pressure on finances. If Raya was loan with obligation you then sell Ramsdale. We need to stop messing around and just sell and get good fees.

Yeah but you can’t have it both ways. You can’t say the club was acting to protect his value when they effectively have tanked it in order to give Raya the best cover possible.

These were choices that the club has made and like all choices there are pros and cons. Some people here think the cons outweigh the pro whereas you think the pro was worth it is all.

What we can say for certain is this: we cannot afford to keep doing this. “This” being selling/offloading players for peanuts after they fall out of favour. It’s not sustainable.

Fwiw I’m with the Con > Pro crew. Not selling Ramsdale when we brought in Raya could end up costing us 30m or more. That money could have gone towards the back up keeper which we will now be buying this season anyway so I don’t see how it’s any different apart from that money we’ve lost.

So you're certain Arsenal got like 40 million plus offers for Ramsdale last summer? Because he will fetch at least 10 million, that's certain. That would be the 30 million plus sum lost you mention.

Right after getting into the team of the season and being nominated for Yashin award??!? And English Tax?!? £40m would be the least we’d have got for him are you being serious right now?

If we had put him on the market we may have got a lot more than £40m… fk man Chelsea prob would have done a swap deal for Havertz 😭

Chelsea bought Sanchez for 25 million pounds.

Are you just imagining things? Do you have some strong rumour article about Chelsea being ready to pay over 40 million pounds for him?

What? Are you being dense on purpose right now? No one bid for him because he wasn’t on the market. I literally said “if he was put on the market” in the post you quoted?

This is a hypothetical discussion. How much do you think Ramsdale would have gone for if Chelsea paid 25m for Sanchez? Need I remind you we paid £30m for him when he was a nobody.

Arsenal isn't going to help Chelsea by selling such a GK for cheap when they need one. It was a great choice, because Sanchez is crap with his feet, and otherwise suspect too.

Pretty sure Arsenal would have sold Ramsdale with a proper offer. But just like Havertz cost quite much, Arsenal would have needed a bigger fee from a rival. Chelsea wasn't paying that so it didn't happen.

If Ramsdale had a shorter contract, Arsenal would have had to consider selling him for cheap even to a rival. Chelsea would be in a much better place if they had cheap young experienced Ramsdale instead of Sanchez for only 15 million more.

We'll see how much Ramsdale fetches. I imagine he is hot property being a young English NT HG GK. So there should be some competition for his signature, which should mean he won't go for a very cheap fee.

Sell him as Teta has chose Raya as no 1 GK (with mostly good results) and no need for 2 no 1 GK in a club. Just need a veteran on cheap/free transfer and a youngster from academy for no 2-3 GK.

Arsenal Quotes

When I am asked why I stayed at Arsenal so long.. my answer is simple; I never wanted to be anywhere else. I could have earned a lot more elsewhere, but that wouldn't compensate for all the good years at Highbury.
