Why is everyone accusing him of sulking on the bench? Did you want him to sit with a huge smile on his face for 90 minutes?
The sulking on the bench isn't an issue. A player should be unhappy to lose their place and should be determined to win it back. The issue is when it becomes clear that your agent starts leaking things to the press about other teams being interested in you. Remember how everyone here was killing Balogun for not wanting to fight for a place here? Why then is it ok for Ramsdale to use the media to basically say he's not willing to fight for his place here, while lying and saying that he is?

When you say that you welcome the competition, we can't then see you using your pals in the media to throw your toys out of the pram the first time Raya comes in. Also knowing how Arteta operates, that's the surest way to make sure you don't get your spot back. When you lose your job(if that is indeed what has happened) if you were serious about welcoming competition, you put your head down and work your way back into the job in training. You don't have your agent and your mates litigate for you in the media.

Absolutely spot on!
Losers sulk. Sulking and feeling sorry for yourself is admitting defeat. Having your agent and media mates leak **** like this is the equivalent of a kid throwing a tantrum, taking his ball and going home.
People can look back on the Ramsdale thread but I’ve said it for time, his fake confidence is the reason I’m not a fan, and again he’s shown that his “Billy big balls” routine is just that - fake.

Haven't people been complaining that Arteta tanks the values of players by talking them down to the media? Now he should announce that Raya is just better than Ramsdale and will be number 1 from now on?

Keep it all in house. Give Raya the PL and Ramsdale the cup games. Talk them both up as joint number 1's, then sell Ramsdale for £50-60m in the summer and bring in a clear number 2 as a replacement.

It's amazing how certain people can be on what has happened.

You think Ramsdale doesn't know how Arteta operates? Why do you assume he certainly does these things - just because he is stupid or?

Exactly. No one can claim to know for certain who will be the better keeper this season, Raya coming to his first big club. Of course I assume that Raya comes on top as I have rated him for a long time, and wanted him before Ramsdale.

But it's so obvious that Arteta can't tell which one is the #1, even if he thinks the other is the better one. No one has that crystal ball at this point, and there is no reason to say the other is #1. It would be stupid.

West Ham is the obvious move here. Fabianski is about 40 and Ramsdale is HG and gives them 10 years. Probably looking at £40-50m with what we paid and his level.

@EDU will do Wsst Ham a deal at around £20m you’d imagine though.

Don’t think he talks them down, he just doesn’t play them, even when he could.

Which is why I think it's important that Arteta doesn't overly affect the fee we could get for Ramsdale by not playing him. He should get the domestic cups and maybe the CL. I'd even give him a few PL matches.

Ramsdale is a highly saleable asset as it stands. Good young keeper, HG, England international. We should be preserving his value at at least £50m. Chelsea or Newcastle would pay that for him.

Ramsdale reminds me a bit of end of his career at Arsenal Szczesny.

He's likely going to be a top goalkeeper in 4-5 years but he needs to grow a bit, get a bit more composed / mature. As title challengers that's maybe not a long term project we can go on. We do have to think a bit here and now.

Even though I like and rate Ramsdale I think over the next 2-3 years Raya is probably going to be the better goalkeeper.

That would make him our record sale.

Nothing points to that happening unless City or united decide to sign him.

We're not selling a goalie to Villa or a post acquisition Everton for much morn than what we've paid for him.

Outside of England his value drops immensely, seeing a lot of it is attached to him being a good gk AND having hg status.

60m for Ramsdale? Be reasonable.

Not that I wouldn't love to be wrong here.

I think Todd would probably pay 60m for him. That's right up his alley. He'd probably think of it as "weakening a rival" from his perch 10 places below us.

Yeah, but knowing Arsenal we'd be like "wait, no! That's too much, let's loan him to you first to be sure!"

I don't think we'd have a problem selling him to a big PL club tbh, Chelsea, Newcastle etc.

Ramsdale is much more highly rated in English football than he is on here generally. We wouldn't be short of suitors. He's definitely one of the best goalkeepers around in his age bracket.

I think £50m should be the minimum. Newcastle spend £45m on the likes of Anthony Gordon.

I don't think £50m plus a £10m English tax is that overboard. I wouldn't sell him for under £50m anyway

just can't see him going for anything over 40m+ bonuses if we're selling him to a PL side.

Unless we're selling to City/united/Chelsea, teams below us are not putting that much outlay on a keeper.

Do you see Villa doing it? Brighton? The list is very short right now on clubs with that kind of cash.

Just look at Tierney, he had to be loaned to Sociedad.

Bit of a wait and see over the coming weeks but I did always think when we got Raya he was going to be first choice eventually as we'd had interest in him for so long.

Wouldn't want to be selling Ramsdale to Chelsea though, **** that.
