Mega Brain Arteta tanked his value. Could have sold him for £30m+ at the end of last season, but instead we gave him a bumper contract and made him a no.2 and not play him for a season.

That £16m loss should be taken out of artetas bonus.

I know it’s transfer window time and the bedwetters need to exaggerate every single little thing but it’s not a 16m loss or close to it. If performance related clauses are triggered after he leaves we’ll come close to breaking even.

Also when Ramsdale did get minutes last year his performances didn’t exactly impress. He’s mentally not strong enough in a position that demands it and completely unsuited to fighting for his place as he just loses confidence to the extent he becomes a liability. That’s not even mentioning his self-confessed concentration issues…..at a club where we don’t give away too many shots so even easier to switch off

Genuinely seems like a good guy and in a club where he will face more incoming attacks as won’t be able to lose focus but ffs some here need to pull up their big boy pants and move away from nappies

Demanding a huge fee for Ramsdale doesn’t sit right with me after how the club been treating him. It’s ****ing cruel.

And btw I do think Raya is the better keeper and it isn’t close. But giving him a new contract, then then make him surplus of requirement and then make it impossible for him to leave is awful.

No better than how Chelsea have been treating Raheem

Thank god EDU is MY TD, proper balls on the guy

I read we paid £24m for him, and we will get £25m if clauses are hit.

Has a second choice keeper who hasn't played for a year ever sold for this amount before? I am not sure what people expect here.

Never happened. I don’t think people understand how amazing this deal is. Once a keeper lose their spot and are on high wages. You have very little leverage as a club. I honest expected 10 million fee

We are terrible at selling players, Ramsdale I'm going to miss & we brought him for a fair bit of money but as far as I've seen, we've sold him for only 18?

I'd have loved more, but being realistic (which seems to be a struggling trait on this forum lately) £18m is pretty reasonable

At the end of the day a player is only as valuable as what the buyers are willing to pay, and given how long we've dragged this out, and the fact he's warmed the bench for a season, this is clearly the only reasonable fee we could get in the current market

The fact is we slightly overpaid for Ramsdale in the first place given his history, but it actually proved to be a good bit of business in how he created such a connection with the fans

We've "lost" £8m on the player in three years, despite the fact in that time he played fully for 2 of them, so if we'd have gone out and loaned a player for that length of time we'd have shelled out a lot more than £7m in that time, Raya has proven to be the better of the two, and we've cut our losses, whilst not losing a significant investment, and now able to go out and use that money to get a younger player who could hopefully push Raya further or even become the number one in a year or two time

we bought him for 24M and we selling him for 24M. he GK who played 5 games last season getting this amount is actually decent when you consider that Valencia keeper who gone to Liverpool for 30M is one of best in europe and levels ahead of Ramsdale.

Oh well I read differently overseas numerous articles. As long as we didn't sell him cheaply compared to what we signed him for considering he's Englands 2nd keeper.

Wrong club but other than that pretty decent guess.

Mental how Arteta booted out Leno for a kid with zero credentials, he repaid that faith and managed to become undisputed #1 then he fumbles it all with his dumb interviews and sh*t personality.

Sarcasm alert. Some people posting here act like Edu had better offers for Ramsdale. He just isn't worth as much as some people wish he was. The market sets the price not keyboard transfer gurus.

I mean, Liverpool have signed one of the best goalkeepers in Europe for 30 mil. That's the market for goalkeepers right now. Using that as the measuring stick. 20-25 mil for Ramsdale seems about right.
