I don't think so. He steps up in games like the NLD. Didn't he get MOTM for that game? I think he should start this weekend

No I meant I didn’t understand how you were agreeing with the post you quoted given what you said. Anyway never mind.

Gabi is better than Mudryk too but Arteta still tried to buy Mudryk to play LW and it wasn't to play LW from the bench. All I'm saying is that you can see a pattern where if you either weren't his first choice or he tried to replace you, you might not be untouchable.

I think the pattern is if you are upgradable, you would be upgraded. Or atleast tried to be upgraded so be prepared for that. There is a good chance we go after a Striker next year with Jesus/Nketieh on our book. Both highly rated by Arteta and personally convinced to sign or extend.

(By the way Partey was Artetas first choice and even he is effectively replaced now and we were even open to selling him)

No one in the team should be untouchable. And the only one currently are Saka/Saliba because of unicorn profile and Ødegaard because of Captain and his go to man and his performances.

Just in the past 2 months
Replaced Partey/Ramsdale.
Benched Gabriel.
Replaced Xhakha with Havertz who is already benched now.

If not for Timber injury White/Zinchenko would have been under pressure.

I like the ruthlessness. Ramsdale was his signing and I did not expect Arteta to be so ruthless. But this is good to see.
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by the Raya move, didn’t think Arteta had that in him. Expected the move for a GK to be made in summer 2024 after Ramsdale costs us yet another season.

Other than Maignan, there is no superstar World Class goalkeeper we can sign right now, Raya is the next best option for two reasons.

Maignan's injury record isn't the greatest, he can break down anytime and costed Milan's title challenge last season for being out for so long last season.

Maignan is a huge Milan Fan too, also he we could cost a fortune, his contract ends in 2026 thus Milan would ask for record fee for a goalkeeper price (talent wise, Penalty specialist and title winning experience he's worth it but not his injury record).

Raya helps with being cheaper than Maignan, Home Grown, currently an Elite keeper who has the attributes to be world class (commanding his box, high claims, calmness/composure and world class distribution). His penalty record isn't the greatest like Ramsdale however.

So to summarise, if we were to sign Maignan, we would sign a top 3 world class all rounded keeper (alongside Courtois and Alisson). But his woeful injury record and enormous fee he would command is a deterrent.

Guillaume Restes.

Might be starting in the Euros for France. Next Casillas.

Still not convinced he'll be much of an upgrade. What people are saying about Raya are the exact same things they were saying about Ramsdale when he took Leno's spot.

Calm on the ball, better passer, more commanding etc etc. It'll be a very marginal improvement imo but happy for Raya to prove me wrong. I've seen Rambo have the games Raya has just had many a time.

I'm not a big fan of ramsdale and even I want raya to be picked ahead of him no doubt. And yes media has been going overboard when they didn't care about leno in the exact same situation.

But on the other hand, Carragher comments are too much as well. Saying you can't win a league with ramsdale is such BS. We didn't lose the league only because of him. He did cost us in crucial situations but so did many other players. Few other things going our way (defense injuries) we might as well won with him. Agree with rest of carras comments that raya is better and we should go with him.

A calm and collected individual.
Always felt Ramsdale's antics were detrimental. Winding up the crowd ect. Raya just has a calmness about him. You dont see Allison bantering with the away fans, as he is in full concentration.

I think Ramsdale has been replaced, and baring a sensational turn of events I can see him deciding to leave. I think Chelsea may make a move.

Ramsdale may have been a placeholder all along.

Arteta is ruthless and takes no prisoners. Good

I think it is quite obvious that Raya is a better keeper for this team. He is simply better on his feet. He seems to be better at claiming crosses too.

Even when we are dominating a game, Ramsdale will have a moment where it puts us under pressure. A moment where he somehow gives the opposing crowd a lift by being charged down, kicking it into touch or losing the ball in midfield. His long balls are also floaty and not flat.

It's telling that Raya instilled calmness on the defence even when kicking it into touch.

Instilled calmness is going overboard. We just don’t have a team that folds at the sign of an occasional mistake against PSV.
