Adrien Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot's future at Paris Saint-Germain remains uncertain with the Arsenal and Chelsea target still to sign a contract extension.

The French champions offered the 18-year-old a five-year deal last August, but the promising midfielder has yet to put pen to paper with his playing time limited under Laurent Blanc.

The former Manchester City youth academy member has made just eight starts in 20 brief appearances in Ligue 1 this season, and with his current contract expiring in 2015, potential suitors are circling.

Rabiot's mother and principal advisor, Veronique, told Le Parisien the direction of her son's future career will be dictated by how much time he will get on the pitch, not how much money he will receive.

"We don't take decisions in terms of financial criteria," she said. "They have their importance, of course, but the priority is the sporting project. How much playing time can Adrien have in the short-term future? Are all the conditions there for him to continue his progress? That's the most important thing."

Beyond the stats, has anybody watched him? Which established midfielder does he most remind people of?

The Daily Star and the Metro are reporting that we've opened talks with PSG over Rabiot.

Meanwhile, the Express is claiming that Chelsea are set to move for 'Arsenal target' Rabiot.

I've watched him a few times when he played for Toulouse and I see him as a BtoB CM ala Ramsey/Diaby, not a DM.
He needs to play regularly to continue his progress so it would make no sense for him to join us and we don't need another CM(even if he's really a huge prospect) I call bullshit on this rumour.

I'm a bit perplexed by this supposed interest in Rabiot.

By all reports he's a very talented player, but he didn't play that much for PSG last season for obvious reasons -- Cabaye can't even start for them.

At 19 he seems like he would be a player for the future and wouldn't necessarily solve our DM problems. He looks to be more of a B2B midfielder, so we'd kind of have to convert him to playing DM.

If we're trying to solve our DM problem I'd rather we go for Carvalho.

I wouldn't mind if we signed Rabiot, but it is definitely more of a luxury signing or Wenger taking a bit of a gamble. Kind of like what he did for Sanogo last season.

It is slightly weird but then you have to look at AW saying he sees CC as a CDM, compare their attributes, and see if that means AW sees the same in Rabiot. It's not impossible, both are good on the ball with assured passing, good height, good positioning, and the build of both cannot exactly be described as tanks currently.

I've seen all his games, even with France. I know him since he's 13.
The kid is talented. Maybe you all know he's been 6 months at Manchester City before returning to Paris. As said here of course he can't start with PSG, that'd be the same with Arsenal but he's so promising.

And tbh I'm still afraid of loosing Ramsey and Wilshere in the next couple of years...

Seen a lot of this kid. He's 19 but plays like a 28 year old. Him and Veratti are insanely good for their age.

Highly regarded! Looks more a B2B midfielder & didn't Wenger say we already have a surfeit of B2B players. At 1.88 m, he's tall. Diaby's replacement?

I think he wants game time which is why he's leaving PSG. Can we offer him more guarantees on that front? As one tall, athletic & skillful mutha, I'd stick him in the back of my deux chevaux and drive him from gay Paree myself.

Young, cheap version of Khedira? They seem similar in style and stature from the bits I've seen of him.

Hair as well I guess. Rabiot would need a bit of a cut and a tub or 5 of hair gel though.

He has a big future. I remember reading up about him some time back and watching vids. I still want Carvalho but both would be great, ok I know we wont get both

He's very talented though it's unlikely we'll go for him IMO as we really don't need more B2Bs. I think buying him and sending him out on loan would definitely do him some good this season, then he'll come into the squad next season.

According to transermarkt he has one year left on his contract and you'd think there's little chance of him signing a new one. Would be a great signing for free next season. He really needs game time though.

I try to follow French youth footy alot but its hard to watch the games due to availability.

This guy is very highly rated by the french fans, however this rumour seems more like the Quintero one. Just does not make any sense for us to get him, however if we can get for cheap as a luxury signing I dont mind.

Like this player. He is more of a B2B, but he has a lot of good holding midfielder qualities in the handful of matches I've seen him. Decent passing range, can break of play, good size- think he could moulded into a holding mid under Arsène's guidance. Not sure how he would do if we just plugged him into Arteta's spot straight away though (which is what we need), would likely need some time.

I have been following him for some time because we were linked to him some time ago, and because he's young & French :) He has Wenger signing written all over him. From what I've seen he could step in and do a job now, he does not play like a 19 year old. Final year of contact, Wenger loves a bargain and it would enable us to buy a CB as well.

From The Express: Rabiot is in high demand after making 31 senior appearances for Paris, and his ability to play in either midfield or defence makes him a valuable prospect for the future.

I don't think it's a real link to us. But I like the look of him, he's the type who could blow up to Pogba/Yaya level in the next couple of years. He would add a physical dimension to our midfield with his size and pace and fit in seeminglessly with his technique.
