Arsenal could use a guy with Grimandi's grit and determination -- somebody capable of taking out a Diego Simeone with a forearm and leaving him with six stitches.

Arsenal need good players, not players who show pashun and get sent off cos it’s 2019 and there’s VAR all over the gaff.

Grimandi was good enough to play alongside guys like Lee Dixon and Tony Adams in some of the biggest games during seasons when Arsenal won the double twice. He may not have been flashy, but he could tackle and defend. Left everything on the pitch. There's always room for players like that. And even with VAR coming, there's still room for the dark arts.

Just saying, how fecking low is the bar now that we’re saying we need players like Grimandi. Not saying he was terrible, but he was nothing special. A modern day Grimandi would do f*ck all to turn this mess around.

Well, he was a valuable player to teams a lot better than this one and had qualities Arsenal has been missing for awhile. As I've said so many times before, not every player needs to be a galactico. Even Real Madrid doesn't really do that anymore. Sometimes you need a player who can do the hard work for you to help out all the pretty boys up front. Grimandi was a winner. He not only helped Arsenal to two doubles, he helped Monaco to a French league title and a Champions League semifinal. I think Arsenal could do with a bit more of that mentality.
