Re: Alex Song linked to Barca

wasnt mad on him as a player.

as a dm he could have been world class, and looked great next to cesc when all he had to do was win the ball and give it to him.

if he had of just kept doing that, and slowly added the long passes ala sahin/m'vila/alonso he'd have been far more effective than what he is now, a big lazy lump who just chips the ball forward over and over again. his passing is overrated, he'l stick out like a sore thumb at barca. yaya didnt even really suit their midfield, and hes far more technically gifted than song.

It remains to be seen how will he do there.
Usually I just don't give a good god damn about players when they leave us,but now I'm very interested in how he'll do-simply because of the fact that he divides opinions to the extreme.

I predict Song will have a mare at Barca and move to Turkey or somewhere else equally uninspiring a la Hleb
Quite unlikely. The reason Hleb failed cause he wanted first team football and was very ambitious. Song will sit happily on the bench for sporadic first team appearances and just collect his wages.

Re: Alex Song linked to Barca

Because he never wanted to leave (apparently).

Just read an article in the Mail (ok, I know) but it says that Song had wanted "desperately" to stay at the club but wanted an improved contract which it seems the club was not willing to offer. The same article says that management became disillusioned with his attitude and performances and as a result have sanctioned the sale. Thus I guess when the offer never came his management team started to sniff around.

I wish people would stop jumping to conclusions about players before they even know the facts surrounding the players situation.

If that is true then Song had a point, and the club have once again shot themselves in the foot. For a senior player to be earning less than the likes of Almunia,Squilacci,Bendtner,Djourou etc must be demotivating.

Shades of Cashley Hole being denied the payrise originally promised.

He was offered a massive wage hike at the time. He wanted an extra £5k for his agent. Your mate David Dein told him to get stuffed, and rightly so. Poor Cashley nearly crashed his car.

Re: Alex Song linked to Barca

Just because you want an improved contract does not mean you can come late for training, sulk and most importantly let his agent shop him around to other club
I am just glad no other player has Darren Dein as their agent, Song was the last one and I am glad he's gone

Nothing like Cashley at all. He still had 3 years left so it's up to Arsenal when they wanted to discuss a new deal. Not him. That's no excuse for being unprofessional if that really is the case. Still what's done is done. He was a good player for the club and seems to have been adequately replaced. Fans should also remember booing him off at Charlton a few years back and not slate him now and remember loyalty works both ways.

Funny draiocht fianna is using Dailymail as his trusted source compared to reliable sources like AFCAMDEN and David Ornstein

“He was one of the worst paid at the club,” said the source. “He was on about £55,000 a week and his performances deserved a pay rise. He became dissatisfied and upset. You can work out what’s going on there — the same’s happened with Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri.”

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/9487891/Arsenal-did-not-sell-Alex-Song-to-Barcelona-because-of-his-unprofessional-attitude-midfielders-agent-insists.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... sists.html</a>

Good riddance. If that is actually true, this **** really believes he's better than he actually is, a couple of flashy passes and apparently he's the new Zidane.

I agree with your sentiment, but I would definitely question paying the likes of Chamakh and Squillaci more than Song. Our wage structure is an absolute mess and needs looking at. In no way does it send out the right message or foster a competitive atmosphere.

I wish i was only earning £55,000 per week i would have a life of luxury never mind £70,000.
