Le défenseur central ou milieu de terrain défensif international franco-camerounais de Bastia Alexandre Song, 17 ans, est sur les tablettes d'Arsenal, avec lequel il devrait effectuer un stage en Autriche à partir de lundi.

Le club d'Arsène Wenger suit le jeune défenseur depuis plusieurs mois et est à la recherche d'un milieu de terrain défensif après le départ de Patrick Vieira pour la Juventus de Turin. Le montant du tranfert n'est pas communiqué, mais il devrait avoisiner les 4 millions d'euros selon le quotidien "L'Equipe".
Formé à Bastia, club avec lequel il a remporté la Coupe Gambardella, Song a signé la saison dernière son premier contrat professionnel.

Le jeune joueur avait déjà été courtisé en décembre par les deux clubs anglais de Manchester United et Chelsea et en juin par l'Inter de Milan. Song a fait au total 34 apparitions la saison dernière en L1 avec Bastia, notamment après la résiliation à l'amiable du contrat du défenseur international norvégien Bjorn Kvarme.

for christs sake..i put a post on here 2 days ago saying we will probably sign some 18 year old nobody and that everybody will say "Have you seen him play?"..how predictable is Wenger?.Forget your Baptista's,SWP and Ballack's...we can now take on the Europe with Song and Flamini.

I read about him when he was only 14-15, guess thats a good sign.. The fact is just with these young african players that no one really knows their true age, so thats why they might be so much better than their counterparts.. Anyways, if he joins us, he will be a star.. Hope he possesses the talent ala fabregas..

We need some comments from french people.. Is he for real? How many games did he play last season in ligue 1? Did he play well?

Yeah, because he's obviously been bought as a replacement for Vieira :roll:

The tough-tackling 17-year-old has picked up three yellow cards from only eight starts this term, but has featured in 15 games overall for Bastia.

from skysports in february - apparently his birthday is 9th of september..

if he'd featured in 15 games by feb, he'd probably had 25 by may.. which is a fairly high number for such a young player..!
