Alexandre Pato

Might be worth a punt depending on his wages and the transfer fee we'd have to pay. Ideally I'd rather we saved the cash and made one big cf signing though in the 40-50 million range.

Diaby would love Pato, he'll never be lonely again in our medical facility.

Oh and 8 goals in 24 games in the Brazilian League. Just saying.

Actually it's 10 goals in 18 starts with another 10 as a sub.
He scores every 2nd game when he starts.

I don't know how much merit it had but I remember reading on article last year stating how alot of his muscle injuries where down to a growth spurt basically.

If it doesn't compromise the other CF signing then I'd definitely want him here.

OK that changed my mind a bit. He is talented though. Injury record is up there with Diaby

I posted that link earlier too;

If he's healthy, it's worth a punt at the right price especially if we can't get players like Suarez.

On the topic of his blistering pace? Does he have it back? If he doesn't, I'm not certain I would still want him, as that was part of what made him such a great prospect.

He was out for just a couple of months in 12/13, better than usual.

According to this

He seems to be coming good, but articles are articles, so who knows... One thing is he's still young, so in theory unless it's a really debilitating injury he suffered, he should be able to regain a lot of his physical prowess ala Ramsey. Whilst pace was one of his greatest assets, he's a good dribbler and has good movement. Bottomline if the A-listers like Suarez are not available, then if Pato's 90% of what he used to be, then we should run the rule over him. With our current creativity, he could thrive on the service he'd get and would certainly be hungry to book a world cup place.

I don't think his current ability is even close to 90% of what it used to be, if it was he'd be tearing up Brazil and he'd be a target for a lot of top European clubs.

Mind you I still think he has huge potential, if not the potential he was showing at one point.

For those of you who haven't seen him at Corinthians.

Let's call in a favour with Edu to get him for £10 m or less, he owes us after selling Paulinho to Spuds.

Looks pretty good in the videos but compilations don't tell the whole story. I'd say that if Tottenham who bought Paulinho from Corinthians, the same team Pato's at, were willing to take that risk, then they probably saw enough to be convinced. No doubt it's a risk, but one worth taking if we can't get a top tier striker in decent form when the transfer season opens. I would think looking at our team, strikers could see how they would get enough playing time and get enough chances given our creative midfield so we shouldn't have a problem selling our need if we keep playing well.

Absolutely, it still shows he has his raw attributes such as decent with the head, powerful shot and good poaching instincts.

While his pace doesn't exactly seem to be electric any more, I think it can still improve as his injuries improve, but currently even it should be good enough I think for our system to offer something quite different to Giroud.

Tottenham took a £17 m risk on Paulinho, a 25 year-old B2B midfielder, we can surely fork out £8-12 m for Pato, a 24 year-old striker. The risk is definitely reduced by the fact that if it doesn't work out after a couple of seasons we can send him back to Brazil and there won't be a shortage of takers either on loan or permanently for £6-8 m+. That is a very small risk considering there's a chance he can turn into a world class striker at Arsenal.

Realistic price and it's very realistic for Corinthians to sell him in January as opposed to the summer. Would be a fine January transfer window if we can pick him up, along with a defender like Winston Reid or Martin Caceres.

Hmm I actually mentioned him in the summer (which went ignored), and Im not surprised by the links.

I think he would be ok, obviously has talent...but it's whether or not he could settle in, avoid injuries and would he be able to make an instant impact? i.e. needing him, if Giroud is out?

Wouldn't be a bad punt and I would be perfectly happy with him if there were no other option (which seems pretty likely).

The fact that he could turn out to become WC (arguably again as he was pretty class at AC) is a lure.

****ing ridiculous how it's never just "Arsenal target" anymore. The media knows how much fans of both club just love to banter, so it's always Tottenham and Arsenal going for the same players.

Would be worth a question to Wenger at a presser.

Would love to have a Brazilian forward here with top class potential here, and for only £10 m you have to go for it, not even cup tied like the majority of other targets. When was the last time we had a Brazilian forward other than Baptista?
