We'll have to get rinsed on his contract to keep him. It serves us right and hopefully we learn from it. Let's get this done, get Lacazette or another CF and move on.

Selling to anyone now (let alone a rival) makes us look weak, I mean, if we keep him now and do well and win the title or at least challenge for it, there's a chance he might stay. If we sell him, we've blown it.

Since we are financially well off right now, we shouldn't sell Alexis to a direct rival in the league. Let him ride on his contract until the end. We're not the type of a club that can easily sign a player of his quality.

Plus they need him the least of any PL team -- not saying he wouldn't start, but they have tons of world class-ish attacking options and lots of younger, expensive talent waiting in the wings.

True, but bear in mind they need a squad of 30 £50m players as Fraudiola can't work with, develop or improve any player who isn't already top class.

Kudos to the Romanian Supporter’s Club who had this banner at Chile’s friendly with Romania yesterday (Romania won 3-2). It says: Alexis, stay at Arsenal and you will become a legend.

Tin foil hat on but does anyone suspect that this was always a possibility. Alexis signed in 2014 big wages and fee but only signs a four year deal that ends when he is 29. Am I overly paranoid in thinking that it was deliberately set up this way to let him see how things were going while giving him the option of leaving before he turns 30 potentially missing his last pay day/opportunity to challenge. When I read it like that makes me think we were always a let's see what happens club. Opportunity to play rebuild his reputation as a top player with the flexibility of leaving if it suits him at a time when it suits him.
