El Corruptico has arrived. The brown paper bag derby is now upon us. The protests continue but the caravan goes on. Rumours persist that the progress of these two teams is the real reason for the disintegration of the Beckham family.

The organisers of the draft are fighting back:

@albakos is still fighting the good fight outside the ground:

The most anticipated of the tournament kicks off with some early domination of Rex Rovers. A_GFC find themselves outnumbered in midfield with Riquelme doing his fair share of walking out of possession. Rovers begin to apply sustained pressure when all of a sudden Figo gets free down the wing…

The referee blows his whistle, but what for Chris Kamara?!?!

View attachment 42952

More shenanigans as one of the ball boys throws another ball onto the pitch just as Figo had stolen a march on his full back!! Half the crowd cheers while the other half screams “cheats”.

The game continues with more Rovers dominance and this time Crespo is able to beat the offside trap…

View attachment 42953

Buffon is equal to it!! He gets down low to stop Crespo from opening the scoring!!

The rest of the half progresses on a bit more of an equal footing and A_GFC have a rare break. Di Maria turns his full back inside out and gets down the outside to put in a cross…

View attachment 42954

Instead of going to head it, Zlatan goes for the spectacular and ends up closer to the corner flag than the goal. A good chance goes begging.

Back down the other end, Figo continues to be a menace for the opponents and he twists and turns Maxwell who’s getting an earful from Zlatan watching from the centre circle. The Portuguese winger manages to swing a ball to the back post…

View attachment 42955

Raul directs his header back across the goal but it just drifts wide…another great chance missed.

Frustration grows for Harry Rexknapp, who realises he may need another bung or two to find the right goal scorer.
View attachment 42956

A_GFC’s turn to have an attack and their midfield is starting to grow into the game. Davids drives forward and plays Di Maria in, who tries to play the ball to Ibrahimovic. It ricochets back to him and he fires a pass to Riquelme…

View attachment 42957

One touch finish and it’s 1-0 to A_GFC!! The Argentine fires a smart side foot finish into the bottom corner and cups his ear at the crowd who hate the idea of this match!!

That proves to be the last action of the first half as there’s only one goal in it and all to play for in the second half.

The second half begins with a slower pace as A_GFC try to take the sting out of the game and kill any momentum Rex Rovers build. Riquelme looks to speed things up and run at the defence but before he can reach the box, he’s scythed down by Zanetti…

View attachment 42958

A booking for the Rovers captain after some Argie on Argie crime!! Free kick 25 yards out and Zlatan is standing over it…

View attachment 42959

View attachment 42960

A stunning strike from Ibrahimovic to make it 2-0 to A_GFC!! The Swede’s free kick beat the wall and Casillas was powerless to stop it!!

The worst possible outcome for the neutral as A_GFC ring the defensive changes to kill the game. Rovers respond with attacking subs but find it hard to break down a stubborn defence.

With the second half winding down, Rex Rovers do manage to win a corner kick and send the calvary forward…

This ends up being a decoy as the ball is played out to Luis Figo who is all alone on the edge of the box…

View attachment 42962

A brilliant volley to halve the deficit!! It’s 2-1 after a moment of magic, but with the clock ticking will Rovers get another chance?

The nerves begin to set in for the opposition as they can see the finish line.

One last push for Rovers and they’re looking to overwhelm A_GFC with pure numbers. They create an overload on the left and the ball gets played into the box, where David Trezeguet is waiting…

View attachment 42963

Catches it perfectly on the volley…

View attachment 42964

…but Buffon goes flying across his net to keep it out!! It looked a certain goal but the Italian legend makes a match winning save!!

The manager was thrilled with that one!!
Unai Emery GIF by Aston Villa FC

Buffon holds the ball for as long as possible, before booting it out and hearing the final whistle he was waiting for…

Rex Rovers 1-2 A_GFC

Gutted one of us had to lose mate to be honest. I’ll be rigging for you 🫡

Good match, you too. Regardless of the outcome, I expect to see the bracket updated with you two both in the next round after "surprise allegations" come out about one of the remaining competitors.

Great commentary, but not as much of a spectacular match as it was anticipated. Other matches had more action 🎬

 at the opening video by Baldyntino, but given that Casillas was playing you missed a golden chance to connect that video with the Iker - Puyol mini-drama.

@Rex Caudillo can translate it

And then another one with Figo getting thrown animal heads at him 🫣

Captain Serious
Think your side was a bit top heavy ngl.

@GDeep™ has built an all round strong team. Weakest player arguably Sagnol or Hargreaves is really good.
Think the teams have similar strengths and weaknesses. His defence is a bit better but goalie is way worse, and there's **** all width in that team.

Anyway as usual who cares about the sims, the drafting and inevitable infighting was the real treasure we made along the way.

@GDeep™ turning down a 10/10 to do his draft pick and @Clrnc saying goodbye to his family and pets because he was about to be disappeared were highlights

But we might skip the entire drafting really and just get @Rex Caudillo and @albakos a thread where they can start beefing each other. Every single ****ing draft

Van der Sar is rated worse than Maldini? Blame Rex.

Get punished for breaking the only rule of the game? Blame Rex.

Yeah, this draft will live on in the annal's of A-M history. The finite line progression v the ‘loop paradox’ debate attempted to decide whether or not the last pick time travels back to connect to the first. An entertaining beef at its very best!

Arsenal Quotes

"Arsenal come streaming forward now in surely what will be their last attack.

A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith for Thomas, charging through the midfield... It's up for grabs now! Thomas! Right at the end!

What an unbelievable climax to the League season"

Brian Moore on the Thomas' winning goal at Anfield in 1989
