Shameless behaviour. The Athletic is literally a brothel, you go in pick a presstitute give them 20 quid or a whiff of an exclusive and they do everything you want.

I don’t even think Arteta or the club even put them up to it, just seems like highly opinionated work. Amy in particular seems to have heavy scepticism when it comes to anything from Spain.

She’s always talking up in house recruitment so not even surprised she’s heavily pro Ayto.

I saw Amy get praise in the Arteta thread the other day and whilst I agreed with the wider point the poster made about the Athletic journos, I can’t say I’m a fan of her work at all.

The stuff she says it not much better than the more thought out opinions you can sometimes read on here.

Amy is very pro "from within" in every aspect. The Arsenal way and all that kind of thing that doesn't even have a meaning.

I like her but she's better suited to being a nostalgia merchant really, she's kind of out of touch ngl

She wasn't very pro Arsenal way towards Wenger was she.

Don't read any of her garbled nonsense but I'll be real @GDeep™ said nothing wrong.

Yeah I think on balance it’s a good move I just don’t expect him to have that Michael Edwards - Liverpool impact. You’re basically getting his contact book and considering the amount of signings Atletico continuously make I’d say he has a better than 50% hit rate.

There will probably be quite a few flop signings but he’s good at recycling the squad with his contact book so it won’t be too big an issue and we’ll move them on quickly. That’s why you’d get him in, can bump you to the top of the queue with the big 3 in Portugal through his Jorge Mendes links as well clubs in Italy.

Said elsewhere he’d probably do a Sesko - Vlahovic combo rather than go big on one name striker like Isak or Gyokeres as he can be quite cautious and would rather sign as many players as possible in the hope one hits.

Interested what it means for Arteta, first few years he tailored the squad for Simeone with a lot of cloggers and runners but then he started making deals for players that didn’t fit that template which did cause issues.

With his contacts in Italian and Portuguese football I wonder if Leao would be a signing he’d make for example that’s not an Arteta player.
This is very important.
One of the most important requirements for DOF is to have contacts (players and their agents, other clubs and their DOFs) and I'm certain that Berta has a lot of these.
You must have certain recognition within the football.
Can you imagine what contacts Ayto has?
I can't comprehend how someone can put Berta and Ayto in same sentence as candidates for DOF.

The Athletic kinda shat on Berta

Most recent article by Dermot Corrigan making it unclear what he actually did at Athletico.

There is also earlier article from Amy Lawrence where…well read this bit for yourselves:

They were very clearly pro Ayto as well:

This Amy article is written in a similar tone to how she would write about Arsène (brought up his dismissal of directors again) and Emery.

Jason Ayto I wasn't familiar with your game.

Next up, he'll leak Berta wants Morata on loan to pug the pressure on the deal not happening.

Well it was a yes man vs someone to shake it up a bit. They were close to getting a yes man as things had been going well but this seasons collapse has made them change their mind imo.

I'm quite liking the idea of him coming in and turning over players more regularly. Maybe taking more risks. We've been quite guilty of hanging on to players we don't really want and hence the value depreciates. Hopefully less chance of that happening now.

One of the reasons for this season collapse is bad recruitment in last 18 months.
Who would you appoint to sort out recruitment mess, the man who was DOF in Atletico 11 years or Edu's assistant?

Yeah we absolutely don't recycle enough, freshen up ideas. Even if you simplify it to teams just know our attack from last season and we've gone with the same players and patterns.

That question does not need asking

Something @Rex Stone said here maybe isn't the worst idea either:

Maybe not necessarily these names but normally we'd stick all our eggs in the Sesko basket. Say he turns out to be ****, at least we'd potentially also have options we've brought in to fall back on.

Don't know how much Berta had to do with the Alvarez and Sorloth deals but that's two they brought in the same window. As it turns outs they've been great but fair chance one of them might've flopped.

I mean he does seem like a bit of a deals guy but he has also worked as a scout at some point, so there's some experience of talent evaluation. Seems like a cheap shot to compare him to Raul who was basically a businessman all his career, especially given how badly the Raul stuff turned out. Setting him up to knock him down if it goes tits up.
When u get labelled as Sanllehi you know its a hit piece. The arsenal intellectual web do not approve obviously

I think there was a chance of that had Jesus not got injured and ruined a chance of sale.

We're not going to have 2 bigish forward signings and the Jesus Havertz wages on the bench

Absolutely. I'm hoping that's how we operate going forward though.

The dream would be a big one and maybe a smaller one from a South American market. He almost signed Lautaro for Atletico when he was still playing in Argentina so it would be nice if we could get a deal like that.

Ayto probably sat in his briefs rustlers in hand firing up indeed.com as we speak.

Guy was up all night on GlassDoor trying to dig up dirt on Berta, putting in it all in a neat Power Point presentation to go along with his Excel spreadsheet on how much money Berta wasted by working with the lights on, instead of doing it all in the dark like a true company man.

A shame really, because probably all it took to convince Josh/Garlick was sharing a couple of lines of coke off of Tim Lewis' forehead.

This guy's transfer history is a whiplash of bangers and all-time sh*t deals. Some hits for sure but **** me there's some real stinkers in there like Joao Felix for £108m or the ghost of Diego Costa for £55m.

It’s full of attackers. Crazy how many attacking players Arletico bought over the years

Arsenal Quotes

Thierry Henry was very quick at analysing everything that was going on and how he needed to react. This intelligence, this capacity to evaluate, understand and question oneself, is also the mark of great players... For everyone, for the fans and for us, he symbolised the golden age of Arsenal.
