This guy's transfer history is a whiplash of bangers and all-time sh*t deals. Some hits for sure but **** me there's some real stinkers in there like Joao Felix for £108m or the ghost of Diego Costa for £55m.

Said earlier but you’re going to have those weird money laundering deals due to the dodgy relationship with agents that Atletico has.

The Diego Costa deal was very fishy. 55+10M to Chelsea who we’d already made a load of dodgy deals with while Atletico was in a transfer ban stank of pre-agreed balance sheet deal.

Then the Joao Felix deal was Benfica pointing to the release clause but that was a bit unlucky as Felix had all the talent in the world but the guy just had no heart.

Where Berta strengths lie is the fact that despite Felix becoming a dismal failure, he managed to fleece Milan and Chelsea twice to get back over half the transfer fee paid for him.

When Arsenal have signed massive flops they’ve usually stank out the place for their entire contract length without recouping anything.

Or Edu used to terminate their contract, i.e. paid them to leave.

Felix was done above his head by the owner, and diego Costa was Simeone's choice big style

I don’t even think Arteta or the club even put them up to it, just seems like highly opinionated work. Amy in particular seems to have heavy scepticism when it comes to anything from Spain.

She’s always talking up in house recruitment so not even surprised she’s heavily pro Ayto.

I saw Amy get praise in the Arteta thread the other day and whilst I agreed with the wider point the poster made about the Athletic journos, I can’t say I’m a fan of her work at all.

The stuff she says it not much better than the more thought out opinions you can sometimes read on here.

I don't like her at all. She's nothing more than a cheerleader, might as well be an Arsenal press secretary.

Something @Rex Stone said here maybe isn't the worst idea either:

Maybe not necessarily these names but normally we'd stick all our eggs in the Sesko basket. Say he turns out to be ****, at least we'd potentially also have options we've brought in to fall back on.

Don't know how much Berta had to do with the Alvarez and Sorloth deals but that's two they brought in the same window. As it turns outs they've been great but fair chance one of them might've flopped.
I can see him doing something like this but I'm thinking Gyokeres and Samu for like 100-110m combined.

We'll definitely get one this summer but two I guess depends on whether we can unload Jesus, Havertz or both.

Samu might be one to watch - the sale to Porto was to balance the Alvarez deal with FFP and they’re a club he’s got good relations with.

I really rate Sorloth and Alvarez but I’d still have preferred they kept Samu. Other than him if Vlahovic is actually available for 25M he’ll be all over that.

I also read that he and Berta have a good relationship and Berta stayed in contact regularly while he was on loan so that's why I mentioned him. The FFP issue adds context. Hopefully we can bring him in. That kid has real talent.

Is Sesko yet another player who can't create for himself and has mediocre dribbling?

If you have 2 elite dribblers out wide, i'm not sure its a necessity that your centre forward has elite dribbling. The problem is our left wing, 1 is fast but isn't a great dribbler & poor decision maker, the other is a better ball player but has no pace.

If you were to combine them, you'd probably make a very good player.

Ok not dribbling, but does he have an secure touch? And can he shift it a few yards in tight spaces to get a proper shot off?

Seems like he has started work aleady.

Hand of Özil seem to think he has started work already while Fabrizio says all contract has been signed and will start work in the coming weeks having already spoken to mikel Arteta.
