Andrea Berta Take Us To The Title

"With the window closed, Arsenal intend to attend to the wider remit of the sporting director role. Either Berta will take up more responsibilities, or the executive hierarchy will be reshaped so others inherit them.
It’s anticipated that Berta will look to expand his team, with another significant recruitment appointment expected in the coming months"

"Arsenal want to improve their revenues from player trading to ensure they can continue to invest substantially in the squad. It remains to be seen how this summer’s lavish expenditure, without significant revenue through player sales, will inhibit Arsenal in future windows"

"Berta has shown his capabilities in recruitment. If he can make Arsenal better sellers,
it could have a transformational impact. Just a few months into life at Arsenal, Berta is swiftly established and made his presence felt.
Arteta has been provided with the deepest Arsenal squad in a generation. Now it is over to the manager to deliver."

8/10 - Incredible work if this is what he can manage with less than six months on the job.

However another window where we neglected our left side, so I don't think we can rate it higher than that. Unless Eze is seen as that player, but we were briefed all summer that the club did not see him as the one for that role.

Nørgaard was a reasonable fee but question the profile should Zubimendi get injured or rested. Perhaps MLS can fulfil that.

Smart getting Kepa for £5M and reasonable wages. A far cry from Edu delivering a cup-tied keeper in one of two competitions he'd play.

Gyökeres, again can't argue with the fee given what similar or worse strikers have gone for this window.

And, outside of Gabriel Jesus, we've removed all those not part of the squad.

8/10 I think our ability to cash in on players when they are at a premium has been and still is one of our achilles heals, and given the teams we are competing with, we need to be perfect on all fronts

Only selling Kiwior for 24m, not getting either of Trossard or Martinelli sold when they had some value I think will prove difficult, and given the talent we have coming through the youth I think we need to start looking at cutting our losses sooner on potential, Reiss Nelson was a sellable asset, but we've now had two loans out of him, and will end up leaving on a free when his contract runs out no doubt!

If we can improve on those things, it was a 10/10, the way we've moved with incomings is transformational compared to what Edu has produced in recent years, no deadline drama's trying to fill gaps that have been left, just executing a strategy with almost perfection

We're terminating his contract meaning we receive no transfer fee - and some Spanish fella is telling Richard it's a good deal for us. Comedy hour.
Infact its a very, very, very good deal according to the Spainard Rum Matteao.

How can they consider a contract termination a deal? lol?

Arsenal YouTuber Curtis Shaw spent his whole stream praising him, calling him one of the best DOF in football.

Before he found a tweet saying that it was Berta who pushed for Nørgaard, and then said he wants him gone 🤣

Love Curtis, funny af!

Nothing more to say than we had a very good window and added win now signings.

We managed to solve our two most important areas, a number 9 who can finish, and a player on the left who is creative and can beat his man.

That being said, I think there will be questions asked that we spent £300M and not one player is a superstar or guaranteed to be a clear improvement. You’re hoping Eze and Gyokeres go up a level.

The left side has not been neglected though, this in fact is my favourite part of our dealings this summer.

It would have been established we needed someone but there werent any obvious candidates, the closest being eze but not a smooth fit as the squad went.

We would have gone for him when hincapie identified as a method of rounding off eze's square peg edges to fit better in the left wing role.

Signing eze gives many options depending on the game, signing hincapie as well means he can bomb down the left and offer width, whilst of course offering cover at cb too.

All a bit 4d chess imo, however the question remains whether hincapie was a berta call, an arteta call or a mixture of both.

I would think the latter as arteta would have to be on board with this as requiring a tactics change. If it is joint then that bodes well for their working relationship. Also very smart to get the loan deal as we did and work the system.

Very impressed by berta this summer, 10 put of 10 for me as he boxed clever to get discounted deals meaning we could fill out our squad as we did.

Sales (or lack of) are a concern but you have to be a miracle worker to sell who we needed rid of! Players on too high wages who have not shone last season as either injury prone, not rotated in enough or coming off an unsuccessful loan.

I think berta did very well to get players out on loan last minute, thus avoiding too many unhappy players in the stands.

What this man has done in a span of 8 months or so borders on miraculous.

In April we were lamenting the fact that we had absolutely nothing on our bench to change a game. In September, with some active mid and longish term injuries, we've got the deepest squad in England and are in the conversation for deepest in Europe.

We have already renewed every player we needed to renew this year except Saka who IMO is the most straightforward one and is probably 99% done.

If the rumors are to be believed, he's not resting on his laurels either and is already preparing for another summer targeting young talented players.

The only guy in Europe doing work like this is Campos at PSG with his bottomless pit of money. We have one of the very best running the football side of things and I'm over the moon with the job he's done.

Yeah hes simply been unbelievable. Pretty much perfect in terms of coming in to do a job, and not only coming in and doing that to a tee but even beyond that.

Nice to see Arsenal being ran like an elite club. The energy just screams we want to win absolutely everything.
