I watched the game and he created absolute havoc travelling with the ball and beating players
He was on the ball alot but he misses one of those chances here and then he becomes persona nangrada. Then same people clamoring for these guys will be saying "We Must spend 120 on this new toy" next summer.

None of the remain options are elite LWs, are they? Barcola is overhyped at the moment, he needs to live up to it and for the fee PSG are commanding, it would be a massive risk.

Pains me to say it but we'll have to bite the bullet and power through with Tzolis and Martinelli.
It’s slim pickings. Barcola probably looks the best option in terms of talent but the financials sounds like you are paying for a ready made superstar which he just isn’t. Sounds to me like a risk that you can’t afford to get wrong.

For the transfer fee and wages that have been going around, if he doesn’t hit the ground running then it’s a massive overpay that realistically blocks any chance of replacing him if a top LW does later become available.

Bit of a catch 22 where I feel like we can’t really afford to stick with our current options but just don’t see who you bring in that isn’t just spending a lot of money for a minor upgrade at best. Totally get why they went for Vini when you look at other “value” in the market.

I don't see where any LWs upgrades are going emerge from in the next 3 seasons. I just don't see any stars in the pipeline who are ready next year or the year after. You probably have to go for Barcola if thats the case. Just to maintain our level.

Thats why Madrid would be doubley stupid to let Vini go tbh. The drop off would be humungous for them and they'd suffer it for years. You'd have to force Mbappe out to the left.

You don’t believe Martinelli will fulfill his potential?

Yup, when that happens you have to create the superstar yourself, so at this point we could do that with Tzolis/Godts for example.

Either way, we arent getting a top LW now.

I'm not his biggest fan but I do think Martinelli is good for 6 goals a season on half the minutes. Him and Trossard shared the minutes before and would average 6 goals each.

So a upgrade is a prem ready 10-12+ goal a season winger, really. Rogers could do that from the left imo. Barcola, I'm not sure.

I mean the clubs dont release individual player wages publicly so all these wage figures that we associate to players cannot be considered then. I dont think Rogers is any more unreliable than others, its been quoted in multiple sources (I found 6 sources, that i agree, are probably copied from 1 source).

As far as i understand its often taken from deal insider information so understand it has to be considered with some uncertainty, but then we could never talk about wages if all this information is thrown away outright.

With Rogers not accepting the deal, ---disclaimer--- we are relying on itk rumours, but Arsenal were not going to get close to Aston Villa's valuation so Assna wasnt a choice for Rogers. He was limited to stay at Villa or go to Chelsea.
Yes there are estimates and certain Twitter showed that some can't be right because the total salary they paid where not in line with capology (compared United and City and the accounting numbres.). Besides the basesalary there are bonuses and signing on bonus.

I am quite sure Rogers would be Arsenal player if Chelsea wouldn't have come in with their offer because Villa needed to sell and if a player wants to leave he normaly can leave. I guess in the end we would have met somewhere between £90 - 100m.

And Rogers would be an Arsenal player if he said he didn't want to go to Chelsea. So of course they need to match at least our offer.

yeah we after vini at this bracket of players not sure what they'll do now the market from beginning the market was so awful if you want LW even if we wanted Diomande Real Madrid would have beaten us for his transfer.

Barcola maybe if Liverpool are dicking around getting that finalised.

Priority should be shifting a striker and signing my guy Osi but what do I know?

He was on the ball a lot combining. Put him around better players and he will look better

Theirs is no way anyone who watched him and Martinelli would come to the conclusion Martinelli is better player. No way

Have a feeling that we are going to try and swoop in for Mika Godts now that the Vini Jr deal looks dead. PSG already bid a total package of 38.5 million pounds but Ajax wants more. Dutch media says that our technical director, Jordi Cruijff, would want at least 50 to 55 million pounds for him. But ideally he wants to keep him for one more season at Ajax.

I'm starting to think that Mika Godts might be the best option available at the moment for the LW position. Not a lot of exciting options out there right now. I understand that some people might be a bit underwhelmed by us signing Godts but i think he is going straight to the top. Might as well be with us then.

How good is he? Another overrated Dutch player or world class talent?

Arsenal Quotes

I believe one of the best things about managing people is that we can influence lives in a positive way. That’s basically what a manager is about. When I can do that, I am very happy.
