Yousif Arsenal

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
In Turkey he won't have to pay tax on his wages. If Atletico sell Alvarez, Martinelli would perform well in La Liga and CL. Could play as a CF in 4-4-2 for Simeone.
I think only Turkish club can give him this Is Galatasaray but they not after him and i doubt Martinelli will want go there already

That's not enough for a year with record revenue and a title IMO. We could have had that window any of the last 4-5 years. Need to be going much bigger to back the squad with the tools to really take another step forward. No reason not to get both of Barcola and Rogers or make a run at Kroupi etc.
The Bruno G deal tells us that the only reason we haven’t been seriously in for all these bright attacking talents is because of our manager.

We had no issue trying to go for a £50M Huijsen we don’t need and now we’re happy to spend 70M+ on a (admittedly very good) CM even though all we really need in that position is someone the manager rates more than Nørgaard.

He just doesn’t care about the attack the same way he does about midfield and defence. The moment it comes to an attacking signing we start to worry about risk and versatility and all this other stuff that is just starting to sound like excuses now. Bruno G will be 29 this season, could potentially decline at any point in the next few years and will come here on at least 250kpw I’m assuming. Why is that transfer any more risky than signing a Barcola or Diomande?

If you told me this summer we’d be cheaping out on LW (again) but spending big in a position we don’t need to…I would 100% believe you tbh. Still shocking that it’s going to play out this way though.

Why is he like this? Anyone can see that we need something in attack, I don't understand it. Rogers is def not the answer.

Has Arteta ever "pushed hard" for a starting front line player, as in he was the deciding factor in pursuing them?

Him and his team pushed for Noni, but mostly because it was a trifecta of fetishes.

Idk, yeah agree it’s not many beyond Vini, but there’s a star out there somewhere. Why has a club of our size gone so long without a star.
Barcola has star potential imo.

As @RunTheTrap pointed out he’s that rare type of winger that aren’t really being produced anymore, more of an off the ball mover type in the Salah mould, he’s the type of winger who has the potential to score 20 goals a season because of his pace, movement and finishing even if he isn’t the most clinical. I think in a best case scenario he becomes something like our Salah or Son

The nice thing about Barcola is that while not as talented/secure as someone like Doue he’s still pretty good on the ball and wouldn’t just be a finisher of moves, again, kind of similar to Salah in that regard who was never the tidiest until his early thirties really.

Diamonde is going to PSG I think and asking price for Barcola is 150 m making it possible 100-120m in the end. I think even at that price for our club its not only manager decision.

I can’t answer that.

Wenger loved attackers, Pep loves an agile winger and Mikel loves physical well rounded players. It’s just how it is for whatever reason.

We’ve found some truly impressive outside of the box guys like Timber and Hincapie, beaten Liverpool to Zubi and gone 100M+ for Rice.

But when it comes to attackers it feels like we do a quick google search, pick a few names and that’s it.

Could also be that his bar for frontline is both lower and higher than for midfield and defense.

He's okay with floor signings that will do a job and can play multiple positions, but if we're talking about starting every week + funneling the attack through them like we do with Saka, he only wants very specific, ready mae players that might not even exist on the market.

Yeah you can keep making these excuses but when it’s been six years and attack always feels like an afterthought then the answer is right there.

Diomande is going to PSG for sure. But which club were doing the groundwork and were constantly linked before PSG came in? Not us. The asking price for Barcola is not 150M either lol.

Look at the end of the day you can always justify why we miss out on attacker X, Y or Z. But if you can’t see that there’s a clear difference in risk appetite when it comes to behind the ball signings vs ahead of the ball signings then I’m just going to agree to disagree with you on the matter.

Yeah, Martinelli is way too good for Turkey at 25 yo. He would do well under Simeone
Simeone would like him in his 442 system but A.Madrid not sure would fit their wage bill strategy i think if they buy Martinelli he'll be one of their main earners in euros he earn 210K a week here.

I agree with you and I think that we must talk more about the fact that Arsenal is so timid about attackers and so aggressive about defence, midfield and GKs.

This Transfermarkt article from May 2025 says it all.

59 clubs have spent more on forwards since 2020 - Why Arsenal need to invest in their front-line

Facts from this article are disgrace for Arsenal.
Can someone explain why Arteta is so reluctant to buy attackers?

Just one thing, Bruno G. is not riskier than Barcola and Diomande.
We all know what to expect from Bruno G., he plays in EPL almost 5 years.

I prefer Barcola to Rogers, I think that we need proper winger, who is very fast and who can dribble past defenders.
Can we finally buy player who is specialist in his position?

This doesn't explain the embarrassing fact that 59 clubs in Europe have spent more on attackers (wingers and strikers) between Arteta's arrival and May 2025.

How many of those won the PL league this year or pushed City all the way to end in 2 of last 4 title challenges. Its been justified imo what we have done in the market so far.

I agree we need to push for top attackers to get more out of the cups.

Nah don’t think it’s his thing.

I think you may be right in that he believes if you get the defence and middle third right then you don’t need absolute top quality in attack.

I can see the logic in that approach but we’re (almost) all children of Wenger so it’s weird having a manager who loves midfielders/defenders like this. Imagine who Wenger would be trying to sign with the finances and status we have right now. You just know there would be rumours of Vini coming here.
