The summer window looks to be a total ****show the more time passes. Really should've gone for a different striker as many suggested then the current number 14 wouldn’t fit the system/league

I’m against Yildiz the more I think about it. We’d still lack serious pace upfront. Ideally need a speed demon on LW

I don’t think it’s about speed. It’s about talent. We simply need a supremely talented and elite forward who rises to the goddamn occasion. Alexis wasn’t the quickest, Pires wasn’t the quickest, but they had the X factor.

I don’t care about speed or fitness stats, i want a baller.

I’ll argue we need to replace the whole attack, Saka aside. Kai is useful.

It’s unbelievable but it looks like we’ve pissed 200M worth of attackers down the drain.

Nwaneri has stalled. Ode, Gyok, Gabi all not good enough, Eze not fancied at all by the boss. JaySus and Trossard are squaddies.

I think we sell everybody. Only issue this manager will go and spend 100M on Gordon or some other chimney sweeper and we’re in the same place.

Yeah if Arteta had no intention of changing things up for Gyok, which also means that he still saw Havertz being our main man when fit, then we should have signed either Ekitike or Sesko. At least they fit the current system more.

Main justification for Gyok was him being a ‘win now’ guy but that makes no sense if we’re going to keep playing in a way that nerfs him. Would have been better off just going for Hugo/Sesko and hoping they improve.

Need both speed and skills to use it to be elite winger. Fortunately there are options that have both.

So may be better to change manager who can use/improve whoever forwards not sold and can identify/coach young forwards like Nwaneri/Dowman?

I think Arteta has an overwhelming fear of ruining our defense by changing anything, so he'd rather stick square pegs in round holes. Same reason he won't use Eze or Nwaneri because they're less defensively sound. Same reason Ødegaard appears to have been instructured to just press and hold on to the ball.

He obviously had ideas in summer, got spooked and reverted. I mean it's working so far so what can you say?

Exactly we need a complete ovehaul in attack.

That's not realistic though, the problem with our attackers is that they're all 7's and Saka an 8.. We wanted 9's - but 9's are generational players. If you overhauled the attack - you're more likely to just end up with another batch of 7's and 6's then you are the 9's we desperately lack. We only need 1 Salah or Haaland for the entire attack to be good enough.

You can’t replace a whole attack because the manager doesn’t fancy them. What happens if he doesn’t fancy the new signings? No manager has the perfect set of attackers, you suppose to work with what you have

The club gave him 180 million worth of attackers 6 months ago. Coach them better

It’s Deschamps managing France’s golden generational all over again, even though it isn’t optimal it’s looking like it’ll be enough for the league.

even though we’re favourites for the CL I don’t see what we’ve served up over the last 2-3 months being anywhere near good enough to win it.

Yeah, we really should win it all this season as we are by far the strongest team really. I get your point, Arteta's somewhat timid approach will cost us down the line in the UCL

😂 it’s funny you mentioned Deschamps as he’s actually the first manager that comes to mind whenever I see how Arteta is approaching particular games and the current crop of talent he has at his disposal, not to the same extent obviously in terms of talent but better than the rest.

I’ve always said him and Tuchel are very similar in terms of structure and rigidness but he also has shades of Southgate and Deschamps whereby he’s more concerned about not conceding or losing a game than gambling, it’s not even a massive gamble as we’re making the teams we’re playing better than they actually are. With the two I mentioned, they’d always be there and thereabouts with a chance of stumbling across the line. Deschamps definitely had that luxury since he’s been in charge of a squad filled with the best talents around the world and Ballon d’Or winners/nominees.

Yeah under Arteta even if we are successful we will never be a team admired by outsiders. And our fans will constantly fight people on twitter as people just won’t appreciate us. We lack beauty in our game and big part of why teams get remembered fondly in history
