Orntstein said Rodrygo or Gordon comes only if Martenelli leaves.
He also made it obvious that Gordon will be too expensive.

I rate Eze a lot , only Rodrygo is rated higher than him in creative LWs
Orntstein said Eze is seen as 8/10 which bums me out as I see him as Creative LW.

Thought Ornstein said it’s either Martinelli or Trossard leaving if a top tier forward comes in, wasn’t exclusive to Gabby.

He said clearly if Rodrygo or Gordon are to come only if Gabby leaves as they are seen as his type.

I’m just going off the transcript.

"If you’re going to bring in somebody like Rodrygo, Anthony Gordon, or any of the other names that have been linked, then there probably isn’t space for two such players [Martinelli and Trossard].
"That’s why there’s a possibility of a Martinelli departure. I have to make clear, I don’t know of any movements or talk or developing situations.

Sounds like a leap of Ornstein’s part rather than fact tbh. There wouldn’t be room for two LW’s but we’re trying to sign Mbeumo /Madueke to back Saka? His logic doesn’t add up.

I took the names in the brackets as not Martinelli and Trossard but Martinelli and either Rodrygo or Gordon (ie. no space for two high value/high earning starting XI type LWs in the squad).

Which makes sense. Say a Rodrygo comes in, there is no point in keeping a Martinelli on 180k pw (or whatever he makes) as a back-up nor in keeping his resale value locked-up in a squad place. Makes much more sense to have a Madueke, for example, as a back-up lw/rw on sensible wages, and cashing in on Martinelli’s value if you are to bring in a Rodrygo.

Here is Reddit at interpreting the video

Ornstein in the video:
- Suggests Martinelli would need to be sold for either Rodrygo or Gordon
- Not sure whether there’s a universal admiration for Rodrygo within the club
- No movement on Martinelli or Trossard leaving
- Nwaneri wants to stay but not a forgone conclusion, deal has to be right
- Potentially looking at Eze (+ other 8/10 players) in case he doesn’t extend

- Not aware if any club is actually going for Sesko
- Never had the confirmation that Arsenal were advancing for Sesko
- Doesn’t believe Villa’s asking price for Watkins would be too different from their £60m asking price in January
- Sporting want a deal that touches the €80m mark for Gyokeres

Essays are my thing
I feel like the journos don’t really know with this whole Madueke/Eze/Nwaneri/Rodrygo stuff. We can speculate and used educated guessing but we gotta let it play out and see. If they’re at all damaging chances of Rodrygo for idiots like Madueke though that’s sackable.
Of course they don't know. Berta's got multiple options on the go, and these guys are just making guessed inferences based on what theyve been told by agents with agendas and what they can work out themselves, with as much insight as half of us on here.

All we REALLY know is that Arsenal are after a winger, a striker, and in an ideal world an attacking midfielder. Because its bloody obvious thats what we need.

I’ve watched it 🤣

I don’t need Reddit to tell me what he says.

Ornstein didn't say any of that.
Then why did you discredit me.

Think I finally got it.

Madueke in as much needed Saka cover (with a bonus as lw cover, which could also make Trossard expendable)

Madueke in, Trossard out

They’ll try for Rodrygo after the cwc if there is also a taker for Martinelli. Starting LW for starting LW. An upgrade, if they can pull it off. Different pieces have to fall together in just the right way, explaining why it’s always referred to as ‘complicated’ by the more serious journos.

Rodrygo in, Martinelli out (if the stars align)

Eze is the wild card for me. Interest may just be a hedge against EN leaving (as discussions are ongoing) or we may actually pull a madness and add him for a different look left side against certain sides or in certain situations.

‘Best case’ we get Martinelli and Trossard out and Rodrygo, Eze and Madueke in. ‘Middle case’ we get Martinelli and Trossard out and Rodrygo and Madueke in. ‘Worst case’ we just get Madueke in and perhaps Trossard out. Might also be a world were we get Trossard out and Madueke and Eze in, I don’t know but don’t think so (costly and blocks EN).

Arsenal Quotes

I think without doubt that Bergkamp is the most talented player to have played for Arsenal in the past 30 years, for as long as I can remember
