He's easily worth that, was great in Belgium the season before and took the step up easily. Rapid, great technique, good eye for a pass and decent finisher, 40m is nothing for him. Would also say contrary to what he's listed he's more 5'7 than 5'6

This feels like a big era for Maghrebi ballers. Since Mahrez I swear a new one keeps popping up every year now. What’s changed - more / better academies? Or better scouting?

Algeria have hit a bit of dry patch atm actually but still have decent ballers in Amoura Gouiri and Chaibi.

Morocco are having a golden generation right now, the number of talents breaking through since 2022 is higher than probably all time until 22. Just a few years ago it'd be unthinkable someone like Brahim Diaz would pick us over Spain, Benseghir would wait for France, Mazraoui and Saibari would go for NL and Belgium etc. domestic players have improved loads as well tbf.

If you wanted to pick a reason you could start with Hakimi probably. His Moroccan is atrocious but even though he was a huge talent in Madrid's academy and would've had a straight path into Spain's NT he was adamant from the youth national teams he'd only ever play for Morocco.

Pretty mental to think that boy's parents raising him with this love for his place of origin is a major reason in the NT making a WC semi final, winning an Olympic medal etc

"Approaching 27" Is that the new over the hill age?

27, finished product, unproven PL player and no resell value near end of contract. No club will pay 50m when he flops at Man U and they will stuck with a player on high wages till end of contract.

Saw his stats go off the chart about a year ago, so had a feeling we’d be linked to him 😂

If we’re keen to develop at this stage of the project then we might aswell go to the source itself and get Franjo Ivanovic before he moves to a German team then they hike up the price. Can see the same thing happening this time next year.

He is citing an account notorious for lying
Nationalcat are saying that we are now ahead in the race for Nico, most likely to sign him in the summer after the players stance softened towards the PL.

Will this be the unprecedented summer signings they hint? Because I am not that exciting if these are the players we are signing.

These are basically the best and most sensible players we can sign at CF, LE and DM. I’m all on board for it.

(Excluding Isak who I don’t think is realistic)

When they say unprecedented they mean spend.

Sesko - £60M
Nico - £50M
Zubi - £50M
Joan Garcia - £18M
Nypan - £12M

And maybe a defender bring the spend to over £200M. I agree though id prefer a real difference maker.
