I’m Loving Big Ange Instead

Rodrygo isn't happening, even if he becomes available, the whole package is going to be too big for the current Arsenal FC regime.

And I think this is why we fail to sign any exciting / hyped offensive talent, they cost too much. And they're waiting for the unicorn that's not gonna cost too much in wages and agent fees.

I mean if Nico Williams is a too big of a deal for Arsenal, no way we can do Rodrygo.
So they cost too much or they are too good for us? Which one is it? Because last time I was watching he and his whole team were invisible against us. Especially Rodrygo he was worse than Casper. Also we bought someone for 105m, that's not a normal sum either.

I don’t buy all this talk about us doing everything behind the scenes. If we were really close to signing someone, we would’ve heard something, either from the player’s side, the selling club, or our own. It feels like the club still doesn’t know who they want to sign, and that alone makes me very worried. My point is that if we know who we want, we should be hearing more rumors. That doesn't seem to be the case.

In the past, we’ve been clear on our targets and gone out and signed them. Now? No one seems to know what the plan is. Why are we even interested in Sané? Where did that come from? What’s the plan there? Do we even want to sign a left winger, or are we happy with Martinelli and Trossard on the left? Why haven’t we shown any interest in players like Cherki or Wirtz? Yet another season where we’ll rely solely on Ødegaard for creativity?

Edit: @A_G could you move this to Transfer thread please, thanks. Wrong thread.

It's not that Nico is too big of a deal, it's the fact Nico is too big of a deal for the age and current talent.

Rodrygo would be on similar wages and the fee can be spread out easier. So economically it's a "cheaper" deal this summer. He's also clearly the better player.

I think we'll sign Rodrygo.

Rodrygo
Šeško
Zubi
GK
young CB

Just be patient, I'm really really excited for this window.

Rodrygo
Sesko
Watkins or Gyokeres
Zubi
GK
Maybe a CB

I think we revamp the attack, move Havertz back and sign a striker for the future (Sesko) and striker for now (Watkins or Gyokeres). I think we will shock the football world. And the above would cost under £300M.

Partey, Zubimendi, Rice, Merino, Ødegaard, Nwaneri, Havertz

Saka, Rodrygo, Martinelli, Trossard, Sesko, Gyokeres

With Jesus sold.

It's too expensive for AFC.
Rodrygo is a more expensive deal than Rice, especially if you take into account agent fees.

Rice is "only" on 200-240k/week.
Rodrygo is reported to seek over 300-350k/week after tax.

Over 5 years, even though the reported fee for him is inferior than Rice (about £80M vs £105M), over the course of the deal, it ends up much more expensive.

Arsenal hasn't reached that step yet.

Most offensive players go now for top wages, unless you sign them before they explode, and then you take into account agent fees which are much bigger because they hype and the demand around them is bigger.

Also Rice was a "safe" deal, PL proven that had little risk to flop. And even if he did, you could still easily sold him at a loss in the PL, for still a huge fee.
On the other hand, if a Rodrygo flops, it's a financial disaster for Arsenal.

Nico Williams reportedly wants £300k p/w which is insane given he is still a project-ish player. The deal itself isn't 'too big' for Arsenal but his wage demands are.

At on point, we'll have to take the bullet if we want to go to the next step.
IF he's really Arteta's dream signing at LW as it's been reported, and he thinks he can take him to the next level and turns him world class, then you have to take the risk.

There isn't a single great offensive talent with hype around him that is going to join us for less than 300k/week anyway.

I mean Kvara has just been signed for a 380k/week last january. Those are the rates for great talent. Either you accept it and you align yourself, or you end up with 2nd class offensive players or worse.

Kvara a far, far more established player than Williams. We are not even paying Bukayo Saka this much money who is x5 the player Nico Williams is.

People keep making the same mistakes and is always full of hopes in our window. Seen it last 6 times and then you guys get disappointed lmao

Just look at the names posted by the tweet previously few pages ago for 2025 targets and then remember this tweet last year

Targets exactly the same, mostly same names too. Always hoping for the same

Have you noticed slowly but surely winger is mentioned less and less. The fact we are more likely to sign a CB instead of a winger sums up why we will never be successful with this anti football manager

We always move fast with defenders but never with attackers. Why?

Arsenal Quotes

The only moment of possible happiness is the present. The past gives regrets. And future uncertainties. Man quickly realised this and created religion. It forgives him what he has done wrong in the past and tells him not to worry about the future, as you will go to paradise.
