Have you noticed slowly but surely winger is mentioned less and less. The fact we are more likely to sign a CB instead of a winger sums up why we will never be successful with this anti football manager

We always move fast with defenders but never with attackers. Why?

I know it goes against the Arteta out crowd narrative that he hates young players but I think Dowman and Nwaneri will play a lot more minutes than many think. They aren't staying to ride the bench.

Well, honestly it is not hard for Nwaneri to play more than 5 minutes per month like he did the second half of the season.p

Unless every midfielder gets injured, I don't really see Dowman playing. If Teta has any balls, he would throw the kid in some of the cup matches, but I doubt that too.

He'll probably do something similar to what he did with Nwaneri

Framing it as Arteta not having any balls unless he plays a 15 year old is hilarious. Guess no other managers have any balls either as none of them are playing 15 year olds either

I agree, multiple times we have seen opportunities to kids being used play old players just because I don't know. Arteta doesn't trust them enough. He needs to be pushed by injuries to give them chances. People really think Lewis Skelly would had played this much if Calafiori didn't injured the whole season? I am 100% he wouldn't.

Compared to Wenger, he's sorely lacking a pair. Wenger threw kids in cup games all the times to gain experience.

Had it not been for the injuries, who knows when MLS and Nwaneri would have played enough minutes.

How many minutes did Lewis played before Calafiori injuries?

@MutableEarth as the resident youth team expert. You think Dowman would have gotten meaningful minutes and been effective last season (cup matches)?

I'm all for playing him and Ethan but 15/16 seems real young. He ain't the athlete or physically gifted as a Yamine so I don't even consider that a proper "reason" to throw on teenagers in games.

I do think Dowman plays some matches this coming season though. We seem to be giving him the golden treatment. Goes to Dubai with first team, trains with them Arsenal pay to have his teachers come along etc. all the what have yous to pamper him.

He clearly seen as a real investment internally.

Dowman 100% would have debuted last season if he was allowed but he wouldn't have got any real meaningful minutes. Probably 5-10 mins tops all season. He was 14 when the season started.

Next season though, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get Carabao mins. He's definitely gonna be with us on the preseason tour and will probably be one of the "surprises".

He's still only 15 and it's ridiculous on paper for this to be a thing but as I said earlier in the thread, he's a freak player. Not normal what he's doing at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he exceeds expectations. Arteta will definitely be tempted to use him, don't get it twisted. He'll resist though and I think that'd be more shrewd.

I was told he wanted to leave

To be fair Arteta Rice and Saliba been consistently talking about next season. As much as it's for the fans it's for the board and owners. Do ur job and we will do ours if good business not done. Saliba and rice will be gone and what a hilarious way to blow 110 million.
