Extremely unlikely. We’re taking a huge risk for waiting a remote chance.

Even if Rodrygo comes, we still need one more attacking player because last season we also had four wingers and Arteta was saying we’re short. Four is enough when you don’t take long-term injury/injuries into account.

Not to mention, we’re going to fight seriously on all four fronts. Arteta is desperate for a trophy and we also how he played the full line up in the Carling Cup semis.

Don’t think we’ll sign any significant winger this summer. Trossard and Martinelli will both still be here, lots of options are moving already, and we’re splashing huge money on two other positions.

Zubimendi fee isn’t huge. It’s actually a bargain considering his current status. We’re lucky he has RC and Real have other priorities in defense.

€80M (Sesko) + €60M (Zubby) + €70M (Winger) + €6M (GK) = €215M is an acceptable amount given our net spend last season and the huge revenue. Furthermore, we will more than likely sell 2-3 players to bring our net spending ~€150M.

Sesko, Zubi and Hato would change that.

Summary

• ⁠Arsenal have always liked Zubimendi. Other teams have had interest, but Arsenal have been the most consistent. Began work on the move after Zubimendi’s move to Liverpool fell apart. Edu and Ayto handled things before Berta took over.
• ⁠Arsenal consider Zubimendi done, even signed. Expect him to join them at the beginning of pre-season. Will likely need to be announced in July for accounting purposes.
• ⁠Duncan Alexander says that he sees Zubimendi in Partey’s position, but adds a bit more. Can be quite risk averse on the ball, but can pick a good moment for forward passes. Stats aren’t exciting, but managers love him. Kind of player who comes in and makes everyone look better.
• ⁠Agreement still not reached with Thomas Partey yet. There will be resolution in the coming days. If he leaves, they’ll need to dip into the market.
• ⁠Duncan Alexander says Zubimendi will likely allow Declan Rice to play on the right a little more (I think he meant left). Zubimendi will often act as the spare man in possession and will likely help to free up Martin Ødegaard more.
• ⁠Arsenal analysed their options for a 2nd choice-goalkeeper and found Kepa to be the best fit because of his situation at Chelsea, nationality and low release clause makes it a good option. Arsenal will pay his release clause to sign him. Despite being a no.1 last season, he’s happy to fight for a place with Raya, even if that means being number 2 for now. Competition is good and healthy for the club.
• ⁠Ornstein says Arsenal are working on the number 9 role every day. They don’t want to rush it and they want to get it right. At the moment, it’s ongoing, they’re assessing their options and they’re assessing all the different factors of it.
• ⁠On reports on Arsenal speaking to RB Leipzig and Šeško: It would be weird if they weren’t. That’s what you do at this point.
• ⁠A lot of work goes into all of this. They would like to see movement this week or next.
• ⁠Number 9 is the club’s first priority. A wide player is a close second. Arsenal were keen on Sané, but he wasn’t their top priority. Not many higher in their thinking over the past year than Nico Williams, which is a situation we should pay close attention to. Just because he has stayed at Athletic Club, doesn’t mean he won’t move.
• ⁠Rodrygo also has admirers in the club. Player needs to speak to Xabi Alonso and see where he fits in at Madrid first.
• ⁠Owing to Williams’ release clause, Rodrygo may be a cheaper alternative right now, maybe not long term.
• ⁠Anthony Gordon is well-liked too. Bryan Mbuemo is also liked, but looks like he’s going to Manchester United and likely won’t change.
• ⁠Ornstein expects a winger to come in this summer but doesn’t know who at this point.
• ⁠Contracts need to be sorted for Saliba and Saka, as well as Nwaneri.

@KrissKringle both of them are red flags, if Gyökeres fail its a bigger problem than Sesko. I'm not convinced by either of them.
