7 goals and 9 assists in the league last season? You don't believe he can do 3 more goals and 6 more assists (now he's on corners) in all comps?

In all comps this season, despite the broken toe and taking a while to get full fitness, he's on 5 goals and 8 assists. He could comfortably end up on 10/10.

It isn't farfetched.

You say now he's on corners like it will make a big difference when half of his assists in the league since he joined are already from corners. A drop off in effectivity at corners (which we have seen in recent months) would make his assist numbers look ****. Also 3 more goals and 6 more assists is a 30-40% increase on what he's doing already playing near enough every minute of the season, so yeah it is a bit farfetched.

We will see, you usually have some form of rebuttal and then I turn out being correct. Same thing happened when I said we would score as many goals as 22/23 last season and you laughed me off the internet.

Crazy thing with Lewis-Skelly is he has WC potential in either the 6 or the 8 position, it really is pick your poison. He was playing that metronomic 6 role real easily today, playing incisive passes inbetween the lines at times aswell. And we know he can carry in tight/open spaces, and has even shown he can score, so 8 is there for him aswell.

It's why I was fuming the very day the news dropped that they were trying him for LB. Such a waste of a literal midfield dominator. I hope these LB shifts can force the issue more and they do the right thing in the end. Yeah he's playing in midfield but it's not really the same. He's playing a secondary role, but tonight he really took charge in the role he had. He's got mega potential in midfield, I just hope he gets to fulfill it properly.

I wish man, as much as I have all the time for Ødegaard. When Ethan really starts playmaking at this level and Myles finally dovetails with Rice (what I love is both guys can play 6/8 and still complement each other based on the game state), that's the ideal midfield.
Rate Nwaneri very highly but I think MLS has more of a shot becoming a playmaker than him. Not that he can't pass but he has a forwards instincts imo while MLS is a thoroughbred CM, agree though he could play anywhere in midfield.

You see no reason why he shouldn't be our no.8 if he puts up numbers that he hasn't done so far in his career. Wonderful.

Been putting in better numbers that Gerrard did at the same age when he was moved to 8 role.

200k a week is a joke. He should hire Havertz agent. Ain’t no way that’s going down like that. Might make sense with an additional 200k being paid to an account in Saudi tax free.

In fairness to England's wingers, James and Lewis-Skelly tucked in a HELL of a lot. Wingers had too much to do. There's only one player who can do that job and that man is Bukayo Saka.

Lewis-Skelly ran the show in midfield from LB. Was kinda pissing me off to be honest. Just ****ing play him in midfield ffs.

This is how we play as well, certainly from the left hand side anyway. We do get slightly more overlaps from the right side, granted, but still a similar issue.

My point is merely to point out, that low blocks aren't easy to break down, and i think people jump to the conclusion (including me sometimes) that firing in more attackers solves the problem.

Remember when Carsley tried that recently against Greece, he had Rice holding and Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Gordon & Palmer all playing? It was nasty and devoid of any structure on which to build attacks from.

Don't get me wrong. i want another creative player in the squad. But for me, we must get as good a left winger and as good a striker as we can get, as that's the clear upgrades to our XI i can see. That's why i can't see the club forking out for a Cunha type player unless we can't get our main targets in the afore mentioned positions. I think the clubs idea is that Nypan can come in for a much more reasonable fee, and with Nwaneri maturing and Dowman coming through behind them, we will develop more creative players that way. Don't forget, we are trying to get these guys to sign / renew contracts, so we will need to show them the path is there for them.

Rogers isn't, but Bellingham definitely is. His creativity goes under the radar coz he doesn't look as fancy doing it as a spaniard but he has a mean through ball and good vision. He just goes about it in a very English way (uses his strength more than fancy footwork to protect the ball) but it's still super effective.

The narrative around Bellingham has gotten a bit weird. Ancelotti played him in a false 9-ish position for a season and suddenly years of top class midfield performances are wiped away with things like "not creative" and can't play deeper etc.

Not having a dig at anyone just to be clear, it's just a very common argument I see thrown about. People seemingly forgot he was the most exciting midfielder in Europe for a bit.

Bellingham is the prototype No 8 - skill, vision, athleticism, he's got it all. Would be amazing in our set up.
