Still Pining for Wenger
Which is exactly why we can't get Isak, Arteta would find a different way to f*ck it up. At the negotiating stage at this point I hope he blows all our money on defenders again so we can tank next season and get a new manager in halfway through finally.

He deserves a front three of Trossard Merino Calafiori forever. Give Saka as long as it takes to return at 100% under Inzaghi and we'll walk this piece of piss league

I've been hoping against hope that Barcelona or PSG crash and burn then come "steal" Arteta from us. They'd be doing us the biggest favor since Atletico poached Thomas Lemar for 90M pounds.

Haha f&ck you Arteta. You thought you could turn us into Real Sociedad, but my God is a wise a God. Now you have to settle for MLS and Rice in midfield as I suggested. Don't fight against RunTheTrap.

According to [ @David_Ornstein via The Athletic Q&A ]: I haven't heard of Real Madrid's interest in Zubimendi. Arsenal expect him to join in the summer. I don't know if this means the matter is completely settled, but they have been working for a while on the basis that he will join the team and he has put in a lot of effort to reach this stage.

Come on Zubi. Join Real

Came across this Xabi Alonso quote about Zubimendi, and it has probably been shared here before, but he (of course) does a better job than me when I said:

"You put him at the 6, and you basically don't have to worry about much going forward or going back. He'll be in the right place, do the right thing, make the right pass and control his zone in a way that means he doesn't need to be covered for by teammates, and allows them to be a bit more expressive."

If we sign him, he might not work. You never know if a player will work, regardless of who they are or how much you spend.

But I'm interested to see what our team looks like and feels like when we have a prime-aged central facilitator who not only takes burden off of certain players, but who allows different zones to use him as a bouncing board or sounding board.

Partey does everything he does and is much better in duels.

Everyone says he's been crap this season, he might just know he's leaving and is ready to and playing at a lower level because he knows he's off.

I'm not going to pretend I've watched a huge amount of him but what I have he looks to me like we'd basically be getting a younger Jorginho.

I think he and Rice looked exceptional together at times last season so I'd enjoy seeing a similar profile.

Yep, and that style of play can have good longevity as long as your legs don't completely fall off. I think there will be a big adaption period but I'm all for it.

People want us to play more direct football but hold their noses up with Zubi. There’s a reason Liverpool really wanted him

Arsenal Quotes

Arsène Wenger's idea is not only to play good football. It's to play good football to win. In my day, we knew that with our style we could hurt teams and win trophies too. But we did it our way, with the positional game, passing, movement.
