Pep isn't the right manager for any club then

Pep won everything at Barca during his first stint in style whilst Tets fluked his only trophy thanks to both his predecessors players. To compare the two is like comparing an eagle to a gnat.

I think the Isak rumours will likely make the headlines in the Summer but we'll opt for Sesko instead. Maybe Leipzig needed him to help them make the CL spot hence why the Jan move didn't materialize.

Having watched technical forwards perform in the late 90s/early 00s, I rarely get high on the current crop we're seeing these days. That notwithstanding, having watched Sesko closely and some of his goal compilation, I think he's got what it takes to flourish in the PL. If Isak as lightweight as he is could do it, then Sesko who is the stronger of the two should do same in a shorter length of time.

Sesko scores all manner of goals with both feet, in and outside the box, at tight angles, with little space in the box and reacts instinctively even when sometimes his body shape isn't positioned properly. And his give-n-go movements with other forwards shows his knack for link up plays which is a good mark of an intelligent player and can definitely help unlock packed defences.

Forwards like Gyokeres, Ekitite etc may do well in the PL for teams with less respect since they won't be facing low blocks constantly but I doubt they'll cut it at this current Arsenal squad.

I think we'll get it right in the forward areas this time around in the Summer.

I'll like to point out that the "forwards in the past weren't involved in defensive duties" might just be a myth at this point honestly or probably some kind of revisionism.

How do we explain how forwards like R9, early version of CR7, TH14, Roberto Bargio, Rivaldo etc will more often than not begin taking on players from within their own half all the way to the opponent's goal? What exactly were they doing there if not to add more bodies to the team defensively, breakup the opponent's attack, protect and progress the ball from there?

In my opinion I think those guys were very technically proficient and secure with the ball that their defensive duties were just naturally meshed with their already outstanding attacking abilities that both flowed seamlessly without extra efforts. Not to leave out how fit they were, and how they enjoyed/relish doing what they did. Some of today's players seem to go about their job like it's a struggle, I must say.

Why do you keep repeating this BS about inherited players?
So boring, annoying and completely irrelevant.
Since you mentioned Pep and Barcelona, whose players were in this Barcelona team when he won his first title in season 2008/09?

Rijkaard of course.

I repeat it because it is true. Tets has yet to win with his own players, a problem Pep has yet to encounter in his managerial career.

If anything, it's quite proven that, whenever he got his players, he went on to win multiple titles.

So, this trophy is less valid?
Should we discount all trophies any manager has won with players he inherited from his predecessor?
What about Wenger's title in 1998?

This logic is completely dumb for me.
Because if manager wins the trophy with players he inherited from his predecessor, it shows that manager can adapt to players he has which means that he is even better.
Like Arteta, he has won FA cup with players he inherited from Emery and Emery couldn't win anything with same players.

Hmmmmm idk, I recall seeing some Athletic pieces basically saying that Havertz' form in the back end of last season was one of the driving factors keeping him at CF and likely that led to us spending money in other areas rather than attack.
Which is why we tried to buy Sesko for £50m odd as soon as the window opened...

If it's Arsenal Vs Chelsea I have no worries at all.

Only concern would be if we spend 4 weeks chasing Isak.

It's obvious. Nearly all of us would love Isak, because he seems the most complete forward out there. He ticks nearly all the boxes apart from probably the main one, is he actually obtainable?

The good thing for me, is that looking at the rest of the league, the bar is very low for centre forwards, even with some of our direct rivals. Bar Haaland at City and Isak at Newcastle, look at the rest of the league.

Apart from them, top scorers are Salah from right wing, Chris Wood, Palmer from the number 10, Mbeumo from right wing, Kluivert from the 10, Cunha from the 10, before you get a clutch of actual number 9's containing Wissa, Watkins, Mateta, Jackson, Havertz, Jiminez & Delap.

I mean, surely even if he is raw, we create enough chances that someone like Sesko could be in that group that has scored round about 10 goals. From then you'd hope he could develop his game enough to be at least as effective as someone like Chris Wood, who is on 17 goals, which is actually the same as Isak.

He's also playing in a two striker formation.

You've come flying in mid convo, brought something back up and got the wrong end of the stick?

Rename to Sapient Blue tit

Something like this is bigger than both of us.

It should be put to a general vote. If you're intent on seeing it happen, by all means do the honours
