Even if that's true, he'd cost £50m more (minimum).

Bang for your buck, £70m for Gyokeres is much better value.

Not really, Gyokeres has the potential to completely flop, becoming a £70m anchor that ruins all your momentum and stops you from really pushing on. An even worse version of the Havertz transfer if he just isn't up to PL standards.

The reason Isak is so expensive is because he's guaranteed quality, just like Rice was. No player is truly a "£100m+ player" or whatever people say but if you feel like you are really only lacking a certain type of player, you can justify the investment if you know the investment will deliver. The only worry with Isak is his fitness.

The truth is no one knows if Gyokeres can do it in the PL; anyone saying he's a guaranteed success or a guaranteed flop is just blowing hot air. But that uncertainty is why he's still at Sporting and available for £70m.

If Chelsea don’t make CL, surely we should be making a bid to take Palmer off them. Can’t see him wanting to waste his career there doing **** all
He’s under contract until 2033 and on £150k a week.
It would require an insane amount of money that we wouldn’t pay with Nwaneri & Ødegaard here

i said to someone else here...but if you look at the Primeira Liga top scorers by season, no one has been good elsewhere. Bola de Prata (Portugal) - Wikipedia

If 100M for Rice is a success (it has been) then 120M for Isak is a no brainer.

If Ethan ends the season on a high then we can go for Isak and a cheaper winger like a Semenyo.

Agreed, depending on the available transfer budget. If the club spend all of it on Isak and he gets injured, then we must have a better forward squad to cover for him. We must get at least another forward in IMO.

Gyokeres could be seen as a risk, but he's played in the Championship so he's used to the country and unlikely to get unsettled as a result. He struggled against us because we cut off his service but he was absolutely ruthless against Citeh. If he can do that to them, he could surely do good things on a cold night in Leeds next season.

As for Isak, ignoring the price tag, he's 26 so he'd have limited resale value at the end of his contract, which we already know is a big issue for this club, but spending £150m on a striker for him to suddenly return to the treatment room on a regular basis is a far bigger anchor. We will almost certainly need a backup to whatever main striker we bring in - if indeed we do bring one in - and that would seriously affect funds for other players of need.

I’m certainly not complaining with that. Isak Semenyo Zubimendi would be a great window for the midfield and attack.

That’s why I would sign a LW like Semenyo as well. Isak may miss 6-7 PL games a season but despite what some on AM may tell you Havertz is capable to step in and give us something in his absence. The issue with Havertz is when you are relying on him for consistent goals the whole campaign, it’s just not possible. It was a similar situation with Giroud years ago.

Semenyo wouldn’t be my first choice attacker to sign from Bournemouth. Dango is the star

The jump from the Championship to the Prem is massive, him being able to do it in the Prem isn't really related to him settling in the country but simply being at the level required.

Scoring against City, while obviously good, isn't a big enough sample size to conclude anything. I could give you a long list of players with great performances against City that you wouldn't want anywhere near Arsenal.

Just to be clear where I stand on this, I wouldn't sign any of the two. I don't believe you're just a CF away from being dominant, so the outlay for Isak isn't justified in my opinion, and I haven't personally been too impressed with Gyokeres.

Tbf I'd spend the same amount of money

Just think Sesko + a winger to replace Martinelli/Trossard in the starting XI would be better.

I go back and forth on it tbh. The main issue for me is I just know my club and we won’t be able to get in two quality attackers in one window. We could probably manage just one though - and if it is one I’d obviously rather have Isak.

We paid 105m for Rice who is ostensibly a #6. Surely the club would be willing to go to 120m for their 'dream' player? The insinuation from Mokbel doesn't make sense.

And attackers are generally more expensive. Most of the transfer record tier fees the last 30 years are attackers. If Rice was worth 105 Isak is def worth 120.

The jump from the Championship to the Prem is massive,

Nah it's not that big TBH. Jarrod Bowen came form the championship and did well along with Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, Archie Gray, Liam Delap, Morgan Gibbs-White, Romaine Esse signed for Palace from Millwall this window and scored on his debut...

Watch out for guys like Hayden Hackney, Jobe Bellingham, and Romaine Mundle in future...

Arsenal Quotes

I don't want the will to educate to be opposed by the will to win. That makes the educator sound like an idiot.
Any manager's approach must be to educate. One of the beauties of our job is the power to influence the course of a man's life in a positive way.
You and me have been lucky enough to meet people who believed in us and led us forward.
The streets are full of talented people but who didn't have the luck of finding someone who placed faith in them. I can be the one that facilitates life, that gives an opportunity
