Is Tonali that good? Damn.

Can’t say I’ve ever noticed him ahead of Bruno Thugmares and Thuglinton. Even Lewis Thug in the making Miley seems more like someone we should be targeting if we want cover.

Lewis Hall is the best player at Newcastle btw, shame we’re stacked at LB as I think he’s gonna be England’s best LB for a while.

He’s a very physical player with great engine. Decent on the ball as well. But he’s not wow player. He’s very similar to Rice. I prefer midfielders better on the ball

Tonali would be good in rotation with Zubi and Rice in that midfield pivot. I think we're preparing for Merino and Nørgaard's exit in the summer.

The defence and Rice won us the league.

Personally don’t think dealing with Newcastle is worth the hassle. We also don’t need to be dropping 50m plus into an older central midfield player. But we know profile wise Tonali completely fits the bill for Arteta.

I think 70-80 million for a rotation guy is crazy. But Arteta is very picky and has history of refusing to use perfectly fine players like Nordgaard

Feel like this one could get messy similar to Isak lol leading up to the summer window the reports were exactly the same about lack of CL football playing a part.

Plus they signed him for 55m and similar to Isak, he feels like he’s done his time there 😅 Tonali’s a good player but I’m not sure it makes much sense for the club to spend the whole summer going back and forth with Newcastle especially for a position that shouldn’t really be at the top of our priorities.

If we can spend solid dough on rotational defenders, we should be able to do the same for depth in midfield imo. It allows us to compete on all fronts without losing quality.

Tonali when he left Brescia back in 2020 for Milan, was highly regarded as the next Pirlo due to his playing style and passing range. He had some really good performances for Italy at U21 level during that time. He is the perfect foil for Zubimendi as a "Passmaster".

As far as I'm concerned, We should be competing for and wanting to win ALL trophies every season. We are going to need a big squad to do that and I'm glad the club are ALWAYS looking at options to strengthen where possible.

Midfield definitely needs looking at If we want to compete on all fronts as we have at times looked tired there this season.

He's 25

23-4 year olds who are without a doubt starting Pl quality are usually ridiculously expensive because of the assumption that you’re going to get close to ten years of quality performances out of them.

Look at the Rice, Caicedo, Enzo fees and the rumoured fees for Baleba, Anderson and so on.

Tonali being 25 is kind of like buying a low mileage, 2nd owner used car. It’s still gonna do you nicely for a while, still going to be expensive, but you’re not going to get completely shafted

Talking of Newcastle Guimares contract expires in 2028. This is their last summer to get good money for him. I'd happily take him or Tonali to rotate with Zubi/Rice. I think we get away with playing them into the ground this year, but next year they need rotation or we'll break down.

25 can contribute now and last 4-6 seasons?

For CM, in my opinion yeah.

We have the opportunity to bring in a younger, higher potential guy in because our CM options are pretty solid and consistent. We will have Rice, Zubi and Merino here next season.

Adding a younger guy to that group balances the squad out for the longer term.

The club changed so much, I changed with it and football has changed with us... But one thing never changes: the 90 minutes still belong to the player, 90 minutes during which he is king.
