You can floor raise the LW because it's been an issue for 2-3 seasons, and that's fine. But after that we are going to need to either take a chance on someone like Kroupi et al, or poach a guy from a top team.

When it comes to elite players, we never force a club that is either on parity with us or is higher on the food chain to sell.

It's a very reactive way to plan your squad and our squad being filled with square pegs - regardless of how good they are - is a reflection of that.

Alvarez, should it somehow happen, would be bucking that trend, for instance.

Obviously not Mbappe, but Kvara, @A_G's boy Yildiz, Doue, even Barcola. It means going getting one of these guys that are "not for sale" and making them for sale.

Again, Alvarez is a good example. Eve though I don't see it with him and he wasn't so set on Barça, he'd be here.

Not every elite buy can be "Oh, Vini's not renewing, let's pounce".

At one point you need to raise the ceiling, and at CF and LW there's very little ceiling raisers to go around.

The alternative to this is taking a chance on an up and coming talent like Diomande or even Kroupi, but since we seem unwilling to take that chance, we're back to having to make the guys with elite attackers sell or waiting to get lucky that one of them become available.

I think we’re quietly walking into a disaster.

Defence was the reason we won the title last season, as we’re missing our best defender for the foreseeable future with no replacement. Mosquera isn’t going to cut it at the top end. Timber is crocked and we will be relying on Ben White who is also crocked. There is going to be a massive drop off there, check our record without Saliba.

The attack hasn’t moved at all, you could even make the argument it’s weaker with no Trossard. Again, we are reliant on Kai, Saka and Ødegaard to return to top form after years of injuries.

There are too many unknowns heading into this campaign.

This is why I can’t get my head around fans thinking we’re massive favorites. We’re very clearly not as things stand. There are so many question marks and defense will most likely be as solid as last season. That’s what won us the tittle.

United and Liverpool have ad much chance as we do, maybe even Chelsea. It will be a real ****ing slog.
